Rovers begin title defence with win

Shamrock Rovers got their Premier Division title defence up and running with a 3-1 home win against Rosslare Rangers.
The Enniscorthy outfit have their sights firmly set on back-to-back crowns and they got off to the best possible start, picking up three points thanks to goals from Eamonn O'Brien, John O'Connor and Ricky Fox.
North End United are sure to be challenging at the business end of the season and they made it two wins out of two on Sunday as they overcame Gorey Rangers 4-2.
David Behan netted a double for the north county side but the Sky Blues collected the points, with Robin Dempsey, Paul Rossiter, Jason Murphy and Andy Moore all getting on the scoresheet.
Eoin Rhodes hit the net on the opening weekend of the season against Courtown Hibs as they drew 1-1, but he went one better on Sunday, netting a brace as New Ross Celtic beat the same opposition 2-1.
Leighton Gleeson got the goal for Courtown Hibs.
Gorey Celtic fought back from the concession of an early goal to pick up three points against Kilmore United.
David Millar gave the visitors the lead after just five minutes but the newly-promoted side claimed the spoils with goals from Matty Kavanagh (two) and Dean McCann.
