Rovers keep their title charge on track

CLEAR-CUT leaders Shamrock Rovers closed in on the title with a hard-fought win over promotion-chasing Bunclody. Willie Dobbs and Thomas Thorpe were on target for Rovers as they edged out their rivals 2-1.

North End had to settle for a point as they were held to a 0-0 draw by Bree, while Wexford Celtic and Raheen also shared the spoils, drawing 3-3, with James Murphy (penalty), Richard Hore and John Browne on target for the Wexford town side.

Paul Fortune netted a hat-trick with Conor Kelly getting a double and Brian Martin adding their other goal as Ballagh beat Adamstown 6-1, with Paul Kehoe grabbing a consolation for Adamstown.

Crossabeg earned a 4-0 win in Caim with goals from Vincent Sullivan, Ciarán Kearney, Alex Wilson and Neil Garry, while Orrill and Blackwater drew 1-1.
