Adult Division 5

Division 5 can be a real springboard for better things, and Rosslare Strand 'B' have the chance to use it as such after scraping past Duncannon to claim the title this year.
The champions were driven on by the 38 goals of captain and 'player of the year' Dean O'Reilly, and the hotshot attacker's form was so good that he helped out the first team on occasion too.
He was aided in the quest by the perfect foil in James Murphy, while dynamic midfielder Andy Byrne was creative and bustling all season long. Add in the steely defensive qualities of centre-half J.P. Foley, and manager Darren O'Reilly had the recipe for success.
It didn't come easy for Strand. They lost to fellow promoted side Duncannon on a couple of occasions but didn't let that stand in their way. The secret to their success was putting away sides they expected to beat and they were certainly helped in that regard by hotshot O'Reilly.
Important victories over Taghmon (twice) and Killenagh kept them ticking over but a horrible injury to Kenny O'Reilly did threaten to derail their season. Yet, before long Rosslare were facing the Ballygarrett boys again, this time bidding for the title.
They needed O'Reilly to be at his best again and they got it as a 2-2 draw was enough to clinch the crown by a point. Next season they will expect youth star Kieron Doyle to bolster the incredible improvement they showed through the year and to challenge for promotion again.
