There was disappointment for Wexford Youths on Saturday when their scheduled Leinster Senior Cup fourth round game away to Athlone Town was postponed due to an unplayable pitch in Lissywollen.
Their last friendly before the league opener on March 4 will be on Saturday at 7 p.m. against Cobh Ramblers in St. Colman's Park.
Tuesday of last week brought the good news that all of the preparatory work in Ferrycarrig Park has been amply rewarded as the club was awarded its Premier Division licence.
The Independent Club Licensing Committee issued Premier licences to 16 clubs in all, including Athlone Town, Drogheda United, Limerick and Waterford United who will be competing in the First Division. Cabinteely, Cobh Ramblers, UCD and Shelbourne received First Division licences.
The announcement was also made on Sunday that Celton Manx, operator of the global online sportsbook SBOBET, is to be principal sponsor of Wexford Youths Football Club for the 2016 Premier Division season.
The company has also pledged to support the club's nominated charity, the Wexford Women's Refuge Centre.
'We are pleased to have entered into a sponsorship agreement with a club now in its first season playing in the top tier of Irish football, and to be able to share their hard-fought success during 2016 with them,' Celton Manx executive director Bill Mummery said.
'Wexford Youths F.C. is clearly a club with its eye very much on the future, encouraging talent and making lasting contributions to the community, values we applaud and by which Celton Manx has always operated.
'I am confident that this will be a partnership that will not only lead to a heightened brand presence in the Republic of Ireland for SBOBET and raise the Isle of Man's profile there, but also serve to strengthen Wexford's standing in the League of Ireland and enable the club to develop positive links with the local community.'
Wexford Youths manager Shane Keegan said: 'For the club to be aligned with such a trusted global brand as SBOBET is a tremendous coup.
'To have Celton Manx as our principal sponsor will open up exciting new opportunities for our players, our supporters and indeed, for the Wexford community.
'We are all looking forward to the 2016 season and developing what I am sure will be a mutually beneficial relationship with Celton Manx and the Isle of Man.'
Keegan has also confirmed the individual player squad numbers to be used in the forthcoming Premier Division campaign: Graham Doyle 1, Matt Connor 22, Adam Dunbar 30, Craig McCabe 2, Gary Delaney 4, Lee Grace 5, Ryan Delaney 3, Aidan Friel 14, Stephen Last 26, Paul Brennan 15, Conor O'Keeffe 16, Eric Molloy 11, Peter Higgins 8, Shane Dunne 21, Andy Mulligan 7, Danny Ledwith 23, Craig Wall 6, Jonny Bonner 17, Chris Kenny 12, John Peare 13, Conor Whittle 19, Danny Furlong 9, Aidan Keenan 10, Conor English 18, Paul Murphy 20, Daryl Power 24.
