Wexford Youths bounced back from falling 2-1 behind on the half hour mark to see off UCD Waves and maintain their unbeaten start to the Continental Tyres Women's National League season.

Wexford Youths 4 UCD Waves 2

It wasn't a vintage performance from Will Doyle's side but it was enough to give them the points and keep their position at the summit of the table after four of this seasons fourteen league games.

Things looked good for Wexford when Linda Douglas was first to react to poke home after visiting goalkeeper Monika McGuirk spilled a Emma Hansberry corner in the tenth minute.

However, the hosts defence really struggled to contain Irish international striker Aine O'Gorman and the talented hotshot levelled for UCD in the 20th minute.

Unmarked in the centre, O'Gorman nodded her side in front ten minutes later but Youths responded immediately when Claire O'Riordan raced away from the Waves defence and found the net at the second attempt.

Right before the interval Kylie Murphy flashed an unstoppable shot past McGuirk to give her side the lead and Youths got the all-important fourth goal when Becky Cassin lobbed the UCD 'stopper shortly after half time.

Next up the the champions is their first league away game of the season as they travel to the capital to take on Peamount on Saturday evening next at 7.30pm.
