Wexford Youths slipped to their fourth defeat of the season against UCD at the UCD Bowl on Friday evening.

UCD 4 Wexford Youths

With leaders Finn Harps not in action until Saturday, Shane Keegan's men had hoped to join their Donegal rivals at the summit, at least for 24 hours, but it wasn't to be.

UCD took the lead in a tight first half when Tomas Boyle pounced on a loose ball in the Youths area after Robbie Benson's free-kick wasn't dealt with.

Wexford hit back early in the second period when Aidan Keenan rose highest to nod Danny Furlong's cross to the back of the net but the visitors joy was short lived.

Dylan Watts turned in Ryan Swan's low ball from the left to make it 2-1 before Jimmy Dermody toed Jamie Doyle centre into his own net past Graham Doyle.

Benson sent Swan away to make it 4-1 and round off a torrid night for Wexford. They'll hope to bounce back next week in a home tie with Athlone.
