Youths pipped by UCD in seven-goal thriller
Wexford Youths came out on the wrong side of a seven-goal thriller as UCD fought back from 3-1 down in an action-packed SSE Airtricity Under-17 League match at the AUL Complex on Sunday.

The Youths had grabbed a late, late equaliser to earn a point against Bray Wanderers in their opening tie and their tails were obviously up as they continued in the same vein, with Chris Phelan giving them the lead on the quarter-hour mark.
An Ivan Meegan corner was flicked on by Danny Doyle and Phelan was on hand to finish to the back of the net to put the Youths in front.
Their lead was short-lived, however, as Seán McDonald fired the students level within a minute.
The visitors didn't let their heads drop though and they were back in front five minutes later when Vinny Quinlan played a through ball to Meegan, who finished with aplomb, firing an accurate left-footed shot across the goalkeeper into the right-hand corner of the net.
When Meegan curled in a left-footed free-kick from outside the area in the 52nd minute with the UCD goalkeeper rooted to the spot, it looked like Wexford Youths were destined for an impressive three points, but a talented young UCD outfit had other ideas.
Similar to their first goal, UCD's response to the latest setback was quick and again it was Seán McDonald who was a thorn in the side of the Wexford defence, as he halved the deficit within a minute of Meegan's strike.
The Dubliners continued to push forward in search of an equaliser and they got their reward when Brandon Perry made it 3-3 on 74 minutes.
With ten minutes remaining UCD were awarded a penalty, with Perry stepping up and converting to break Wexford Youths' hearts and make it two wins out of two for the students after their 2-1 win over Limerick F.C. on the opening day.
Wexford Youths will make another visit to the capital next weekend as they face Cabinteely in Stradbrook at 2 p.m. on Sunday.
Cabinteely lost 3-2 to Cobh Ramblers in their opening home fixture and face Bray Wanderers at the Carlisle Grounds tonight (Tuesday).
The Under-19 campaign will start next week.
