Dale Donohoe drilled home the winning goal with seven minutes left to see Starlights into the Greenstar Premier Under-21 football championship final at the expense of Shelmaliers.

Starlights 3-7 Shelmaliers 2-8

The Bellefield boys made the best of terrible conditions in the first half, trailing by just four points at the interval (1-7 to 1-3) despite playing against Storm Desmond.

Liam Ryan notched an early goal to get the hosts off to a 1-2 to 0-2 lead but Shels came back strong and netted through Jody Donohoe to take an interval lead.

Lenny Connolly pulled Starlights back into the game shortly after the resumption and his side were level after Darragh Pepper's 44th minute point.

A Liam Rockett goal turned the tie on its head once again but Donohoe was to have the final say to book Starlights place opposite Crossabeg-Ballymurn in Sunday's final.
