16 Wexford finalists for Blas na hEireann awards
There was a strong showing for Co Wexford as Blas na hÉireann, the Irish Food Awards, announced it's finalists for 2019. This year a total of 16 food producers from the model county are short-listed, with a total of 52 products up for awards, an increase on last year's showing of 49.
Members of the Wexford Food Family will be proudly flying the flag for their home county as they head for the prestigious awards ceremony which takes place in Dingle on Saturday, October 5.
Food Family members through to the finals include Fancy Fungi Gourmet Mushrooms, Irish Country Meats, Kelly's Bakery, Killowen Farm, Naturally Cordial, O'Neills Dry Cure Bacon Co., Regan Organic Farm, Scúp Gelato, Tara Hill Honey, Tasty Parlour, Wexford Home Preserves, Wild About, Zaeire Artisan Chocolates, Zanna Cookhouse, Staffords Bakery and Sadies Cordial.
Wexford Food Family wished to congratulate all of their finalists and also sought to encourage all residents and visitors to Wexford to seek out produce from local producers.
The Blas na hÉireann awards is the biggest blind-tasting of produce in the country and judges come from all backgrounds including chefs, academics, people in the trade, buyers and home cooks.
This is the 12th year of the competition and it is hoped that a good haul will be returning to Wexford following the glamorous ceremony in October.
