Aldi unveils its revamped 'project fresh' store
Aldi has unveiled a revamped 'project fresh' store in Enniscorthy which was completely refurbished as part of a €160m investment in the company's Irish store network.
Work on redeveloping the store was ongoing for some time. The company has committed €100m to constructing and opening 20 new stores in Ireland while the project fresh initiative will see revamping of its 137 nationwide stores taking place.
The layout of the Enniscorthy store is based on Aldi's award-winning Project Fresh design; a similar revamp of a store in Ennistymon won the Best New Store build award at the Checkout National Retail Supplier Awards.
Featuring the exciting new layout, Aldi's Enniscorthy premises offers a wide selection of fresh food at the front of the building, hi-spec fixtures and fittings, and new signage that provides a more efficient and hassle-free shopping experience.
There are also 118 shared car parking spaces available for customers.
Significantly, the store will be powered by 100 per cent green electricity and the company has invested in improving its energy management systems with its entire store network now powered by 100 per cent wind-generated energy.
Aldi was the second retailer in Ireland to achieve ISO 50001 accreditation in recognition of its efforts to improve energy efficiencies.
Operating seven stores in Co Wexford, Aldi has become an established part of the model county's retail landscape.
The Enniscorthy store participates in a national partnership with FoodCloud - donating surplus food to local charities every day and it has donated almost 6,500 meals to to-date.
Aldi Enniscorthy is also part of Aldi's Community Grants network with the most recent beneficiary of a €500 bursary grant being County Wexford Community Workshop.
Speaking at the reopening, Aaron Corish, the manager of the Enniscorthy store, said: 'The Project Fresh revamp of our store is great news for shoppers. Its new spacious design makes for a very easy and enjoyable shop.'
Mr Corish also spoke about the store's swap and save campaign aimed at encouraging people to save by swapping their weekly shopping to Aldi.
Aldi is committed to growing its Irish supply base and increasing the number of Irish products available in its stores.
With that in mind it's investing more than €500,000 in year two of its Grow with Aldi supplier development programme, which offers up-and-coming artisan Irish food and drink producers the chance to have their products listed in its 137 Irish stores.
Aldi also recently increased its support for small Irish suppliers by reducing its payment terms to 14 days for suppliers that transact up to €300k annually with the company.
It's expected Aldi will sell over €700m worth of Irish goods this year.
