Four haulage companies in line for top transport awards

Four Wexford based companies have been named as finalists for the 2016 Fleet Transport Awards programme.

Established in 2007 the awards honour best practice in the road transport and haulage industries within 16 categories with the Irish Haulier of the Year 2016 title, the ultimate prize.

Roche Logistics Group (Rosslare Harbour) is nominated in International Haulier of The Year Award, Owner Driver Haulier of The Year, with John Joe Murphy nominated for Fleet/Transport Manager and Dean Camber nominated for Technician of The Year.

Sommer Commercials (Enniscorthy) is nominated in two categories, Customer Service Excellence Award and both, Aaron Doyle and Joe Ireton nominated for Technician of The Year.

National Vehicle Distribution(Rosslare Harbour) is nominated in Customer Service Excellence Awards and also received a nomination in Excellence in Warehousing and Product Handling. Baku GLS Ltd.(Rosslare Harbour) has been nominated in three categories, International Haulier of the Year, Safety Award and Jennifer Kelly nominated for Woman in Transport Award.

'For our ninth annual running of the Fleet Transport Awards, we are pleased to see a number of Wexford based firms chosen as finalists by our independent expert adjudication committee,' said Jarlath Sweeney, Group Editor at Fleet Publications. 'Actually, within the province of Leinster, 20 more companies from Dublin, Kildare, Westmeath, Wicklow Kilkenny, and Offaly are represented, which augers well for the industry as standards offered to their customers are of the highest quality nationally.'

Following the selection process, the shortlisted finalists were then interviewed by the judging panel. The official announcement of the category winners and the presentation of prizes will be made at the 9th annual Fleet Transport Awards 2016 Gala Dinner to be held at the Citywest Hotel, Dublin on September 3. Compere for the evening is RTE personality Marty Whelan with Pat McDonagh, MD, Supermac's, the guest speaker.
