It's four in a row for St Therese's B&B in Mount Alexander, Gorey.

The bed and breakfast provider has been awarded a certificate of excellence and five stars by TripAdvisor for the fourth time for constant high ratings by customers.

'I was very surprised but also delighted,' said proprietor Monica Kenny. 'I have put everything into the business, so it is nice to be recognised for it.'

Located just on the outskirts of Gorey town, St Therese's B&B first opened its doors in 1992, providing a bed and breakfast service to the regular visitors to north Wexford.

'I enjoy meeting new people, they always say to me the B&B is a "home away from home" and that is what we strive for,' added Monica.

Monica wakes up early each morning to cook a delicious breakfast for the guests. She said she only buys organic fruit, locally produced food and bakes her own bread.

'We get in local produce such as Killowen Yogurt, O'Neills Bacon, Wexford Preserves,' said Monica. 'I give the people what I would like in a place like this.'

Now running six rooms in total, Monica said she gets a lot of guests who return yearly to the B&B.

'We do well when there is weddings happening in the local hotels too,' she added.

Monica got a taste for running a business when she took over her father's shop in Ferns a while back.

After shutting up and selling the premises, she decided to move to Tara Hill with her family. A few years down the road, and Monica bought the property in Mount Alexander and opened her B&B.
