High speed boost for broadband
EIR says another 22,000 homes in County Wexford will have access to high speed broadband by the end of the year.
It says more than 41,000 homes and businesses already have access to high speed broadband in Wexford.
This will grow to more than 63,000 premises by the end of next year which includes more than 22,000 premises in 42 communities that will have access to fibre to the home offering speeds of 1,000Mb/s.
Already, these speeds are available in some homes and businesses in Enniscorthy, Broadway, Inch, Courtown Harbour, Killinick, Curracloe, Kilmore Quay, Duncannon, Kilmuckridge, Rosslare, Tomhaggard and Wellington Bridge.
Eir says that since June 2012, it has invested close to €450 million in our Next Generation Access network to provide high speed broadband throughout Ireland.
This has been a vital part of Eir's overall capital expenditure of €1.5bn during the same period.
