Impressive new Cooney Furlong showroom officially opened
Farmers from all over the country arrived at the Old Dublin Road to attend the recent official opening of The Cooney Furlong Machinery Company's new state of the art showroom. An imposing structure, it greatly adds to the commercial aspect of the Old Dublin Road, taking the best part of a year to construct under the careful watch of Fox & Mahon Architects.
The Cooney Furlong Grain Company was founded in 1998 by directors Kevin Cooney and Walter Furlong and, having enjoyed considerable success, in 2014 the pair decided the next logical step was to expand into the agri machinery business.
They acquired the Vadestad franchise for the Midlands and South East first and in January of this year, they saw a further expansion, securing the franchise for Case IH tractors in Wexford, Wicklow and Carlow.
The machinery company employs a total of ten people at the new showroom and the staff were more than happy to show the huge crowd of farmers around the new facilities at the official launch. Particular interest was reserved for the workshop, where farmers got the opportunity to see some machinery in action and take in some demonstrations.
'We were absolutely overwhelmed by the support we got,' said Maeve Furlong. 'From the agri community, local businesses, our wonderful staff...we didn't expect such a huge turnout and we were over the moon. On behalf of Cooney Furlong, I'd like to thank everyone for their support and for the wonderful feedback we've received on the new showroom.'
'We look forward to working with farmers across the country in the future.'
The opening of the new showroom has been greeted as another major signal of confidence in Enniscorthy and those in attendance wished the staff and management every success for the future.
