An architect's practice run by a Co Wexford man has shot to national prominence having been shortlisted for five awards in the Irish Construction Industry Awards 2019 Architectural Practice of Year competition.

Joe Fallon Design Architecture has offices in Bunclody and Dublin and is run by Templeudigan man Joe. The company has grown rapidly over the past few years, progressing from having a single employee to a staff of ten in only a few years.

Armed with 30 years of industry experience, Joe said his company's workload has remained steady, 'while our profile and the calibre and quality of our projects have steadily increased, thanks to press coverage in national newspapers plus generous referrals from past clients'.

The company was shortlisted for the Irish Construction Industry Awards 2019 Architectural Practice of Year and for residential projects under €500,000 in four out of seven finalists against the top designs in the country.

Joe said although the company didn't win an award this time round, they are thrilled to have been shortlisted in what is a high profile national award sponsored by The Irish Times and Volkswagen 'We moved from a single home-based office to purpose-built premises spread over three floors on the main street in Bunclody and first floor office on the main street in Dundrum, Dublin 14. Today we assist in the provision of residential services for people with an intellectual disability, working with Muiriosa Foundation and HSE to provide architectural services, as well as social housing initiatives alongside Tuath Housing in Cork and Louth.'

Joe Fallon Design Architecture was shortlisted for Residential Project of the Year, for its design of a modern farmhouse in Co Meath., for a stunning, modern house in Castleside, Co Dublin, for their design of a Garden Pavillion in Bunclody and for an amazing family home in Rathnure.

The company are no strangers to the competition having won the Best Park in Ireland award in the competition in 2016 for Templeudigan Park, a project close to Joe's heart. The company has also been shortlisted in 2016 for the Irish Building and Design Awards that year.

In 2014 they were shortlisted for the Wexford Green Business Award, while in 2013 Joe Fallon Design Architecture won the Social Contribution Award by the Wexford Chamber of Commerce and in 2011 the company was shortlisted for the prestigious CMG Architectural Practice of the Year award.

And the secret to the company's success? Teamwork. 'In order to achieve the best design possible, we collaborate in-house on certain projects, often running design competitions between our architects and technologists. This has the dual benefit of sharpening our design skills while giving the client a broad and comprehensive set of proposals to choose from. The latter also gives the client great value-for-money.'
