There were great celebrations for the staff of Sheehan's Cash & Carry as the Wexford town wholesalers were awarded a Stonehouse Gold Standard Award at a lavish awards ceremony in Carton House, Co Kildare.

With 25 cash and carries nationwide coming under the Stonehouse umbrella, extremely high standards are required across the board to achieve the Gold Standard and the crew at Sheehan's were delighted to make the grade.

Initially coming from New Ross, the Sheehan family have been in business in Co Wexford for over 100 years. The current cash & carry in Wexford town opened in the 1980s and has gone from strength to strength since. With the establishment of the Stonehouse brand back in 2000 came the awards and the crew at Sheehan's have featured strongly in the annual awards ever since.

The Cash & Carry currently has a total of 22 employees and James Sheehan says each of them have played a part in achieving their most recent accolade. 'It's a real team effort,' he said. 'Everybody can take a share in this win. We were delighted to be recognised and we hope to continue to maintain these high standards going forward.'

Stonehouse said: 'The weekend was a great success with a number of our members receiving a Gold Standard Award for their continuing support and high performance and we'd like to congratulate them.'
