Tourism strategy being finalised
Wexford County Council is currently putting the finishing touches to the County Tourism Strategy 2019-2023.
The five-year plan has a number of key aims with the first one being to increase the number of visitors to the county and the associated revenue in a sustainable manner.
The strategy also provides recommendations with regard to stimulating investment and development throughout the county to increase visitors, economic growth and employment.
According to the local authority the strategy will also identify and prioritise key products and experiences likely to enhance growth.
According to the Chief Executive Officer of the local authority, Tom Enright, Wexford is spearheading the implementation of Ireland's Ancient East initiative.
He said the launch of a new Viking Fire Festival will be just one of the visitor experience initiatives planned for this year.
Wexford has also been identified as a key area to target as part of Fáilte Ireland's Castles and Conquests, and Viking visitor experience plans.
