The proactive role Wallace's Homevalue in Wellingtonbridge plays within the community is unprecedented for a building supplies company in Ireland, and has seen the company collect a national award for their efforts.

Wallace's won the Excellence in Community Outreach category in the Octabuild Builders Merchant Excellence Awards 2019.

The business received its award at a gala awards event in the Aviva stadium in Dublin.

According to the judges: 'Wallace's is a business completely and utterly anchored in its community. It makes an amazing contribution to the local community including a brilliant playground funded by the business, study facilities for students and staff running their own charitable endeavours. Wallace's gives more back than any other merchant we know.'

Over 250 guests representing the builders merchant trade throughout the country attended the awards presentation hosted by the eight Octabuild members: Dulux, Glennon Brothers, Gyproc, Instantor, Irish Cement, Kingspan Insulation, Tegral Building Products and Wavin.

Octabuild Chairman Mark Filgate praised all 11 awards winners.
