World skills medal for Christopher
Qualified County Wexford apprentice Christopher Kehoe has returned from the 45th World Skills Competition in Russia with a Medallion for Excellence in Welding.
Enniscorthy man Christopher was part of an 17-strong Irish team of apprentices, trainees and students which won four gold medals, one bronze medal, a 'Best of Nation' medal and seven Medallions for Excellence.
The team competed in fields including welding, aircraft maintenance, cookery, plumbing and heating, construction metal work, restaurant service and cabinet making, spending four days showcasing their skills and talents on an international stage against competitors from 60 countries.
The World Skills Competition which takes place with the support and encouragement of employers, is held every two years and is the world's largest professional education event involving 1,600 competitors in 56 different skills and disciplines.
