The members of the Castle Vintage Club in Taghmon have chosen to spread the love this festive period by donating money to ten different local organisations.

A total of €4,000, which was raised from their August barbecue and the Dick Williams Memorial Run, was shared between the following groups:

Taghmon Ladies Football, Taghmon Coiste Na nÓg, Senior Citizens Christmas Party, Taghmon Day Care Centre, Carroreigh Ns, Taghmon Ns, Church Restoration Fund, Athletics Club, Teach Spraoi and Windmill Therapeutic Unit.

And Club Chairman Pat Monaghan said the aim was to ensure as many members of the community benefited from the club's endeavours as possible.

'We wanted to spread it out between different groups, spread it evenly among the community,' he explained.

Thanking everyone for their continued support and the staff at Cuckoo's Corner for hosting them on the night of the presentations, Pat said the club's next outing would be in Oylegate on December 7 where they would be supporting the 'Light up the Night Road Run' which is being held in aid of Pieta House.

For 2020 he said the next big event in the calendar would be their three-day tractor run on the May Bank Holiday weekend.
