A true gentleman
Hundreds of mourners descended upon Curracloe to bid farewell to Daniel (Danny) Potter, formerly of Finglas, Dublin 11.
Danny sadly passed away peacefully at his home on April 4 surrounded by his family, following an eight-year battle with cancer, an illness which he bore with great dignity.
Danny's first love was his family. He is survived by his wife Trish (neé Keane), daughter Amy, sons Gavin and Dylan, grandchildren Kyra and Denny, his Mother Rita, brothers, sisters and extended family.
Despite undergoing intensive treatment with chemotherapy Danny always looked forward and never complained. He and his wife Trish got great strength from a visit to Lourdes in 2009.
It was only last April that Danny retired from his job as a Chef in Wexford General Hospital, which was a testament to his determination.
Danny was a very popular member of staff and took great pride in his work. He was very helpful and always willing to go out of his way for others. He liked nothing better than to put on a spread for his family and friends.
With the great support of Wexford Hospice Homecare and the Irish Cancer Society, Danny was able to spend his last couple of weeks at home with his family.
The care Danny received in Waterford Regional and Wexford General Hospital throughout his illness was second to none, for which his family are truly grateful.
The esteem in which Danny was held was evident by the huge attendance at his home and also at his funeral Mass in St Margaret's Church, Curracloe.
May he rest in peace.
