Nurse Olive was valued member of staff at Wexford General for 40 years
The death of Olive Bridges has left a big void in the lives of all her family and everyone who knew here.
Olive from Parnell Street died on May 15 aged 85 years.
She was born in 1929 to May and Harry Johnston and grew up on John Street. After school she left to enrol on a nursing course in Sefton Hospital in the United Kingdom.
Not long after this she married the love of her life Joe Bridges and the couple started a family which ran to 12 children.
After her training Olive took up a post at Wexford General Hospital. This was a role she kept for the next 40 years where she was a valued and trusted member of staff.
As a family the Bridges loved to holiday in Curracloe and in later years travelled to Glenbeigh, Co Kerry.
Olive was described by her family as a an extremely sociable lady who loved a good natter with all her neighbours in Parnell Street and in more recent times her friends in St. Brigid's Centre.
Olive is pre-deceased by her loving husband Joe, grandchildren Emma, Renu, Joseph and Tracie. She is survived by her daughters Mary, Margaret, Philomena, Olivia, Michelle, sons Joseph, George, Victor, Richard, John, James and Paul, grandchildren, great grandchildren, brothers, daughters in law, sons in law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
