Get out and walk for National Trails Day
PEOPLE are urged to get their walking boots on for National Trails Day.
A number of walks will be taking place across Co Wexford on Sunday, October 2, to mark the fourth annual National Trails Day.
Taoiseach Enda Kenny recently launched National Trails Day, for which there are events planned all over the country, including walking, cycling, equestrian and water trails. Here in the Model County the focus will be on walking. Wexford Hill Walking Club will be hosting an introductory hill walk. Those interested are asked to meet in Clonard Church Car park at 9:20 a.m. and participants will car pool from there. The trail will last three to four hours. Clody Loafers Walking Club, in conjunction with Bunclody Community Council, is organising three walks for each loop at Coolmelagh Recreation Area.
There will also be a nine kilometre walk of the Raven Loop in Curracloe, which will be weather dependant, and an eight kilometre walk from Carne Harbour to Carnsore.
National Trails Day is aimed at increasing awareness about the fantastic recreation opportunities in the countryside and encourage people to experience a trail in their locality. A full listing of events is on www.nationaltrailsday.ie. Event organisers can post events for the day on the website.
