Off to Australia Going away party
FOUR young Wexford women were given a great send off recently just before they set off for Australia.
Friends Anna McKenna, Anne Cullen and Amy Potter, all from Curracloe, and Anne Doyle, from Ballyvaloo, Blackwater, arrived in Sydney early last week.
The girls had all been working here, but had been discussing and planning their big adventure in Australia for some time and later secured one year visas.
Amy is a qualified beautician who had been working as a part-time cleaner at Wexford General Hospital; Anna worked as a Special Needs Assistant; Anne Cullen worked as a hotel receptionist and Anne Doyle worked as a carer in Kerlogue Nursing Home.
They arrived in Sydney last Monday and will enjoy some time there in the Australian summer before jetting westwards for Perth, on the other side of the country to find work.
A going away party was held for the four friends at Hotel Curracloe the Friday night before they left and there were over 200 people in attendance, many travelling from Dublin and right around the country.
Amy's dad Daniel said it was a great night and the girls were given a great send off by their families and many friends.
