THERE were some wacky characters on the streets when Wexford Pantomime Society recently opened their box office at the Dun Mhuire.

Snow White, Red Riding Hood and Rapunzel were among the colourful ensemble bringing some festive cheer on a grey day and were ably assisted by the Wexford Fife and Drum Band. The cast members also put in a special guest appearance at the Santa Train and visit Wexford on Ice.

For over 47 years Wexford Pantomime Society have brought the people of Wexford one of the largest and most professional pantomimes in the country and this year the group are pulling out all the stops with what is officially their biggest production yet!

This year's show is in fact a combination of several classic stories pulled together in a new and exciting script by Thomas O'Leary. 'Snow White and the Babes in the Wood' is a combination of the classic stories of Snow White, Rapunzel, Hansel and Gretel and Little Red Riding Hood. Narrated by none other than the Brothers Grimm the original authors of these stories, they take us on an adventure as our imaginations reshape these classic tales.

The pantomime takes place at the Dun Mhuire from January 12 to January 17. You can check out the society's website and Facebook page for details of ticket sales and updates. The box office will be open this week, up to and including December 23, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. (053 9123061). Tickets start at €10. The box office will be open again from January 4 every day from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
