Step back in time with 'Flashback'
THIS YEAR the popular Denis O'Connor Photographic Archive celebrates its 10th year with an exhibition entitled ' Flashback 10 – Guided by Music'. The exhibition features a staggering 650 photographs, all of which are at least 30 years old.
The collection is not only popular with locals looking to take a trip down memory lane, but for tourists visiting during the festival it paints a picture of what life in Wexford was like as far back as the 1950s.
A regular visitor to the exhibition, local woman Margaret O'Brien thoroughly enjoys attending the exhibition every year. 'I always feel like a child at Christmas when I come here,' said Margaret. This year Margaret spotted her sisters in a photograph of one of the first play schemes in Wolfe Tone in 1981.
Central to this year's exhibition is a series of photographs taken at musical events down through the years. From the Male Voice Choir to the Singing Pubs very little escaped the lens of Denis O'Connor.
The exhibition can be found on the corner of Abbey Street and George's Street in what was the old Gem shop.
