Stocking fillers that don't cost the earth

There are interesting products available that won't cost the earth and could be the perfect gift or stocking filler.

For example a shampoo bar is a fantastic idea as you can cut back dramatically on the amount of plastic bottles you need to recycle. Most brands are kind to you too as they don't contain nasty chemicals, and they leave your hair shiny and bright. They can take a bit of getting used to, but most people are happy to make the change.

What about a bamboo coffee cup for someone who loves a coffee on the go? I think it's the best option as many of the compostable or recyclable cups may not be reaching the proper end destination. With the reusable cup at least you know you're doing your bit.

Thankfully the single use plastic straw has had its day and now you can get straws made from glass, bamboo, stainless steel, or wheat. Or even a foldable straw that fits in your pocket or bag. Some straws come in sets with a cute little brush to wash them out with. These environmentally friendly straws may have been on somebodies to do list and a pack in the stocking could be the perfect gift.

Think about the amount of plastic toothbrushes that end up in landfill. There must be millions. A bamboo toothbrush that is fully recyclable is a solution.

I love the idea of making the switch from plastic disposable razors to the old fashioned Naked Necessities zero waste razor where you only change the blade and keep the same handle. The blades are a lot cheaper too. You might know someone who would be happy to make the switch.

Maybe you know someone who would be interested in a gift pack of environmentally friendly household products. There are many available or household cleaner products, compostable refuse bags, reusable vegetable bags, and there's vegan food wraps.

Drop into your local market and pick up some local handmade products. You're supporting your local economy and environment, a perfect Christmas gift.
