28 Clubs from around the country took part in the 4th Annual Adamstown Open Cross Country last Sunday 19th September producing some fine performance from both juvenile and senior athletes. This annual event has gone from strenght to strenght.

There were good numbers in the races which produced some surprise performances, our own club Adamstown were well able to hold our own against the best in Leinster. Adamstown Athletic Club would like to thank Gavin and Stuart Rothwell for the use of their land, Fr Nolan and Adamstown Vocational School for car parking, without their support this event could not be held.

We would also like to thank our sponsors Mr Oil, Adamstown, Cullen's Gala Adamstown, My Sport Enniscorthy and Slaney Building Supplies Clonroche for the generous sponsorship and making our day such a success.


The weekly '30' Card Game continues in the Community Centre on Friday 1st October at 9pm. There is €220 in prize money on offer each night. Thanks to the ladies for the teas last week. Catering on Friday 1st will be: Ann Walsh, Nora Furlong, Dympna Bradley and Margo O'Reilly, Coonogue. Proceeds going to Parish Funds.


The Adamstown ACF 40th Anniversary reunion will take place in the Stanville Lodge Hotel on Sunday 24th of October. Dinner served at 7.30pm sharp, music will be by American Heart and tickets will cost €25 each. Contact any committee member for tickets.


A meeting of Adamstown Show Committee will take place in the Community Centre this Thursday 30th of September at 9pm. All members please attend.


The Annual Church Gate Collection in Adamstown for the Irish Heart Foundation will take place next Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd of October. Please give generously to this worthy cause.


Once again the grant for Socially Monitored Alarms and Security Lighting has been made available to the Committee. The grant is available to all people over 65 years. Anyone wishing to avail of same is asked to have their name left with the secretary or any members of the committee before October the 4th. Any names received after this date may be late for inclusion of the scheme. The secretary can be contacted on 053 92 40837.


The September meeting of Adamstown ICA Guild was held on Wednesday 15th September. The President Ann Stafford welcomed the members back after the Summer Break. A vote of sympathy was passed with Ann McDonald on the death of her father and with Dympna Rochford on the death of her mother.

The President paid tribute to the late Maura Kelly who was a very loyal and active member of the Guild since its formation. Maura will be greatly missed and sympathy was extended to her family. It was decided that this year the guild should organise the Senior Citizens' Christmas party, and for this purpose a cabaret will be held in Cullen's lounge on Saturday the 23rd of October.

Hostesses for the evening were Callie Doyle and Kathleen Murphy. Winners of the Raffle were Eileen Thorpe and Mary Lawlor. Euro bank collectors for October are: Ann O'Brien, Mary J Furlong, Breda Bolger and Liz Furlong.


The Margo Murphy School of Dancing who earlier this year took part in the TG4 dancing Competition 'An Jig Gig' which will be televised on TG4 at 7.15pm on Sunday 3rd October.


Adamstown Ladies Soccer Club u12 training commences on Monday 4th of October in the Community Centre at 6pm. Girls from 10-12 years old are welcome to attend. Please bring footwear for both indoors and outdoors. Any girls interested in attending must get their parents to text Shane on 085 1334523.


The parish of Adamstown welcomes with great joy., Louise Mary Mahon, Woodview Drive. Eabha Dorothy Cullen, Fairfields, Farrah Ann James, Brocurra, Harry William Whelan, Rathkyle, Sean Thomas Galway, Tomgarrrow, Emily Kate English, Raheenduff and Paraic John Doran, Glenour. All who were baptised during the year of Our Lord 2010 and we congratulate their parents on their first teacher in the ways of faith.


Sympathy is extended to Susan O'Shea and Louise Stafford, Adamstown on the death of their Grandmother Mai Stafford, Tullacanna, Ballymitty who died on Friday 17th September. Her funeral mass took place on Sunday 19th of September with burial afterwards in Ballymitty Cemetery. May She Rest In Peace.


Sincere sympathy is extended to Willie Coady, Oldcourt, Adamstown on the death of his beloved wife Hannah who died on Sunday 19th of September. To her sons Frankie and Patrick and her daughter Beth, her sisters, her grandchildren, her daughter-in-law, her son-in-law, her many relatives friends and neighbours our sympathy also. May Her Kind Soul Rest In Peace.

The Dick Williams Memorial tractor run is on Sunday 3rd October, leaving Taghmon Community Centre, at 11am. All are welcome.
