ADAMSTOWN

CARDS

The weekly '30' Card Game in the Community Centre on Friday September 30th at 9pm. €220 in prize money on offer each week. Catering on the night will be Kathleen O Connor, Derville Moore, Tina Whelan, and Nancy Walsh. Proceeds will be going to the Parish Funds. GOOD HARVEST

A good crowd enjoyed the various activities at the 10th Annual Harvest Festival in Doonooney last Sunday.

Youngsters had great fun with the Athletic Club Challenge, the Irish Dancing and the Bouncy Castle. The not-so-young had the opportunity to relive the times gone by, looking at the Vintage Ploughmen (and women!) at work, showing their skills to the rest of us.

Later in the afternoon, the sight and sound of the Steam Engine doing the Thrashing was very popular with many. The various stalls and catering marquee were also busy. See this weeks local press for ploughing results.

The Officers and committee wish to thank everyone that helped in any way to make the day so successful. Sincere thanks to all 71 generous sponsors. MEETING

A meeting of the Harvest Festival Committee will take place this Thursday 29th September at 9pm. All members please attend. PRESENTATION

The presentation of the proceeds of the Harvest Day will take place in Cullen's Lounge this Saturday 1st of October at 8.45pm. Everyone welcome. Refreshments served. HEART COLLECTION

The Annual Church Gate Collection for the Irish Heart Foundation will be taken up at next weekends Masses, 1st and 2nd October. Please give generously. BIG HEART WALK

Raheen Family Resource Centre in conjunction with the Irish Heart Foundation is organising a Big Heart Walk on Sunday 2nd October starting at the Picnic Area in Carrigbyrne at 2.30pm. Voluntary donations to the Irish Heart Foundation will be welcome on the day, as they hope to raise funds towards their Heart Attack Appeal to inform men to ring 999 at the first sign of a heart attack. All are welcome to come along for this fun walk. SYMPATHY
