Arrangements for attending surgery of Dr Catherine O'Donohoe, Adamstown during Ploughing Championships Tuesday 25th-Thursday 27th September inclusive: The surgery is open as usual in the mornings. Please ring as you normally would for appointments. Afternoons: the surgery office is closed during the afternoons due to the expected impact of the Ploughing. However if anything arises during the afternoons that you need to see the doctor, please ring (053) 9240623. Do allow extra time to get to the surgery.


The weekly "30" Card Game continues in the Community Centre this Friday 28thSeptember at 9.00 pm. There is €220.00 in prize money on offer each week. Thanks to the ladies for the teas last week. Catering on the night will be: Ann Foley, Ann Barron, Mary Power and Margo O'Reilly. Catering for the following Friday 5 th October will be: Brigid Boland, Dympna Bradley, Edel English and Fiona Power. Proceeds will be going to the Parish Funds.

Adamstown AC 6th Annual Open Cross Country was held in the lands kindly provided by Gavin and Stuart Rothwell in Adamstown on Sunday 16th September over 20 clubs were represented and the competition was top class. Top ten individuals received medals, Adamstown athletes claimed quiet a few of these.

To kick off the day the up and coming athletes, the tiny tots took to the line in the girls race Sadhbh Creane was 4th and Laura O'Gorman raced in 6th. In the boys race Ross English zoomed home 6th. U9 Girls Elaine Aspell 11th, Ciara Mooney 18th, U9 boys and our Irish Independent stars Robert Ben Wall finished 5th and 6th, Laurence Power 16th, Michael Harler 20th. U10 Girls Aoibhinn Creane 10th, Roisin O'Neill 13th, U11 Girls Rachel Power 4th, Kate Jackman 5th, Sarah O'Gorman 13th, U11 Boys Luke Byrne 3rd, Christopher Mahon 6th, Craig Wall 7th, David O'Gorman 15th, U12 Girls Mairead Creane 12th, Sonia Mooney 13th, U12 Boys Thomas Aspell 7th, Eoin O'Gorman 14th, U13 Girls Triona Mooney 3rd, U13 Boys Brian O'Gorman 11th, U15 Girls Analise Creane 5th, U15 Boys Ryan Carthy Walsh 9th, Joe Mooney 13th, and Junior Men Stephen Gorman 1st. Well done to all our athletes who competed.

A special thanks to Gavin & Stuart Rothwell and Fr Nolan for the use of their property for the day. The club has an extra big event coming up this year when it will host the All Ireland Cross County Championships on the 9th December in Rothwell's field, preparations have already begun so if you are going to be around on the 9th December or in the run up to the All Ireland's and would like to get involved your help would be greatly appreciated. Adamstown Harvest Festival will take place on Sunday 23rd September commencing at 12 noon with Vintage Ploughing, Vintage Display, Fun and Games, Scarecrow Competition, Irish Dancing, Children's Athletic's, Bouncy Castle, Wheel-of-Fortune, Weight of Lamb, MiniDigger Skills, Clay Shoot, Archery, Griddle Bread, Bric-a-Brac, Lucky Dip and lots of more, Farm Produce, an Shop, Dolly's Brown Bread and Butter. The Old Time Farm Threshing at 3.00 pm. Charity Auction at 4.00 pm

Sandwiches, confectionery, items for Charity auction, and vegetables for Farm Produce will be gratefully accepted between 10.30 pm and 1.00 pm. All proceeds for Charity. Please give generously.


The Best Dressed Scarecrow Competition taking place in conjunction with the Harvest Festival this Sunday has really caught the imagination of many people. We hope to have over 30 exhibits on Sunday, if you have a scarecrow please have it in place in the field by 2.00 pm. Entry fee is €3.00. Judging will take place at 3.30 pm. There will be a section for children under 16 years plus an adult section. We will be putting up the scarecrows around the village and surrounds on Monday evening. The whole venture should provide a bit of fun for everyone.


The Parent's Association will be holding their Annual General Meeting in the school on Wednesday 3rd October at 8.00 pm. All parents are invited to attend; this is an excellent opportunity to learn more about the school. Light refreshments will be served. Hope to see you on the night.


The Adamstown ICA Guild held their first meeting after the summer break on Thursday night 13th September. There was a good attendance at the meeting. It was decided that the ICA would host the Senior Citizens Christmas Party again this year on December 2nd. Also in attendance at the meeting was Breda Dunne from Bree ICA representing Wexford Federation who gave a lot of information on up coming events. The competition on the night was an apple tart and the competition was won by Kathleen Delaney, the raffle was won by Callie Doyle. Refreshments were served by Eleanor and Cait.


This great advent will take place from Tuesday 25th September to Thursday 27 th September in Heath Park, Old Ross on David O'Dwyer land.

A shuttle bus will operate to and from the Horse and Hound, Ballinaboola courtesy of New Ross Town Council.


Raheen Family Resource Centre in conjunction with DESSA intend running a six week programme for parents of children with disabilities on Thursday nights starting on Thursday 4th October. The course is suitable for parents of children under 12 who have any form of impairment, there is a maximum of 20 places for the county and places will be allocated on a first come first served basis.

It's local and it's free of charge. It won't solve all your problems, but it will offer you information and advice which will help you to see things differently and to find ways of getting what you and your child need. You'll be with other parents who are in a similar situation to you, so there will lots of opportunity for getting and giving real support. Condolences to the Nolan and Farrell families on the sad passing of Mrs Carmel Nolan, Ballykelly. To her husband John, her children: Mark, Jennifer and Lorraine and to her sister Elizabeth Greene and her husband Ray, Oldcourt our deepest sympathy.

Carmel's funeral Mass took place in Horeswood on Thursday last. May her Gentle Soul Rest in Peace.


U-9s, Campile Utd 0 Adamstown 3; Scorers: Shane Roche 2, Robert Wall 1. Well played to all the boys who had a very good win over a strong home team.

The Second under 9 team had a great game also with some fantastic play from all the boys...they are gradually learning the skills which will serve them well for many years to come.

U-11s, Enniscorthy Town 3 Adamstown 4; Scorers: Leon Sinnott 2, Craig Wall 1, Luke Byrne 1. Fantastic result for the boys who had to battle back from behind for their second win in a row.

The Castle Vintage Club annual Dick Williams Memorial Tractor Run takes place on Sunday 7th October leaving Taghmon Community Centre.
