Bannow/ Ballymitty

Sunday Café

The next Sunday Café takes place in Ballymitty Hall on Sunday next January 25 from 11am to 1pm, looking forward to seeing you there for delicious tea/coffee/hot chocolate and home baking which you can sample in the hall and then bring some home with you.

The next Ballymitty Hall meeting takes place tonight Tuesday at 8 pm in Ballymitty Hall.

Dancing

Social dancing continues every Thursday night in Tir na Nog. All are welcome.

Sympathy

Deepest sympathy isextended to the O'Neill family, Coolbrook on the sad passing of Nicky who passed away peacefully last week. Nicky reposed at home and his removal took place to Ballymitty Church on Monday evening with funeral mass on Tuesday and he was laid to rest in Kilcaven Cemetery afterwards.

Nicky is survived by his sisters Mary, Bridie, Margaret, Nellie and Marie, nephew Sean, wife Siobhan, extended family and a large circle of friends, Nicky was predeceased by his brother John and sister Kathleen, may he rest in peace. Sympathy is also extended to Carmel Daly and Family Coolhull on the death of her mother during the week, may she rest in peace.

Handball

Congratulations to Paul Cleary, Seamie O'Neill, John sinnott and Dean O'Neill all winners in the Christmas turkey tournament, an Easter lamb tournament will begin shortly and we are expecting a large interest.

Forms for children wising to enrol in Carrig N.S. for September 2015 are now available from the school secretary, forms must be returned by January 30.

Parish Mission 2015

A special meeting will take place on Tuesday evening next, 20th January at 7.30 p.m. in the Community Centre with the Redemptorists and our local community to arrange our Parish Mission. All Parishioners are invited to attend, but we would especially like people involved in the various ministries to be present and help in the planning process. Our Parish Mission will take place on 8th-15th March.

Parish notes

Week Of Prayer For Christian Unity: this takes place from the 18th to the 25th January. The Diocesan Ecumenical Service will take place here in Clonard on Sunday 18th January at 7.30pm. The Preacher is Rev. Dr. Heather Morris from the Methodist Church. All are welcome. Refreshments will be served.

Passion Play Information Meeting: We are looking for all sorts of stage talent, musical or not. All are welcome and all will be cast. Please direct any questions to Joy Viceroy on 087 1362974.

Bereavement Support

The next bereavement support sessions begin with an information night begins tonight 20th January from 7.30 to 8.30pm in the Parish Centre, Shamrock Room. All are welcome. If you wish to attend please contact 053 9123672/087 1008759. There is no cost. Donations are acceptable.

operation transformation

Clonard Ladies have an operation transformation group who meet up Monday 7.30 p.m. and Friday 7.00 p.m. at Clonard Church for a walk. Kettle Bell circuit training at Total Fitness Westpoint on Tuesday and Thursday from 6.15-7.00 p.m., every one of all ages is welcome to join us. Irish Dancing

Ferrycarrig Rowing Club AGM will be held on Friday 6th February at 8.30pm in Mary Jo's Pub. All are welcome. We would encourage the support of all members and their families at the meeting.

Camogie News

The camogie club will hold a Table Quiz on Friday January 30th in the clubhouse (time TBC) team of 4 €20. MC on the night will be Tom Dempsey so fun is guaranteed. Please come along and support your club.

Congratulations to Clodagh Jackman who was selected on the U16 County Camogie team for the coming season.

Coiste na nÓg

Our Jim Byrne team is doing really well having defeated Clonard last Sunday week and this week advanced to the Semi Final by beating St. Martins. All Coiste na nÓg managers and selectors for the coming year were ratified on Saturday Evening.

Many thanks to everyone involved, over 45 in all, willing to give up their time for our kids and the honour of our club. Managers are:

U18s Garry Laffan, U16s PJ Carley, U14s Paschal Carley, U12s Tony Butler, U10s Paudie Berry, U8s Barry Goff and U6s Noel McCormack.

Details of all selectors for each team will be up on the website during the week.

Winter League: the O'Briens Londis Winter Football league starts this Wednesday for the boys aged 10 and 11 this year and Friday for the U14s and 12 year olds. This time it's Football. Guaranteed fun with a little extra thrown in!

BATTERY COLLECTIONS

Piercestown Scouts are teaming up with European Recycling Platform (ERP) to Recharge the Earth challenge. This event is to promote battery recycling and awareness among Scouting Ireland Youth Members and also the public in general.

Piercestown Scout Group hope to collect as many batteries as possible for recycling and receive some tree coupons. Once we have collected sufficient boxes, ERP will reward the group with tree coupons which can be exchanged for a tree. This exercise will divert batteries from landfills,

Bring your batteries to the Scout Meetings on Tuesdays and Thursdays, we will also put boxes in Londis and Roches Drinagh Shops and in Murrintown/Piercestown Church porches. Thank you for your support.

Taghmon/ Camross

Camross ICA

The first meeting of 2015 was held in Camross hall on Monday 12th and almost all members were present. Marian Donnelly presided. Sympathies were extended to Breda Banville and Margaret O'Gorman, Caro on the recent passing of Mary O'Gorman, Breda'a mother and Margaret's mother in law. Sympathy was also extended to Mary Margt Roche on the passing of her sister in law, Kathleen Whitehead.

Minutes, finance and correspondence were dealt with by Ann O'Gorman, Margaret Nolan and Marian Donnelly. The guild will visit Community Hospital and New Haughton Hospital, New Ross on Sunday 25th January, meet at Rochfords Lounge at 1.30pm and have vocal chords warmed up.

Craft classes of White work embroidery are going well with Mairead O'Gorman and the Line Dancers are still strutting their stuff on Tuesday nights in Camross Hall. Bowling will commence on Sunday 15th February.

The fundraising Cabaret for senior citizens party 2015 will be held in Rochfords lounge on Saturday 14th March. Members will attend lunch and presentation of long service certificates on Sunday 8th February in Talbot Hotel, some members on waiting list for tickets.

Marian thanked all for the successful Bric a Brac stall, profit from which will be the guild's contribution for An Grianan refurbishment. The best homemade Muffins were won by Tricia Sweeney and raffle winners were Mary Nolan and Alice Codd. Delicious tea was served by Esther Rynhart and Majella Colfer after which Bridie Kelly Doyle presented a Sound Therapy Meditation class which was greatly enjoyed by all, thanks Bridie. Next guild meeting will be held in Camross hall on Monday 2nd February at 8pm and ladies interested in learning more about the association are very welcome to attend.

Walzing at Camross

The February dance will be held on Friday 6th in Camross Ballroom, doors open at 9.30pm with dancing from 10pm til late. The 2nd heat of the walzing competition will take place where a further fifteen couples will be selected and the grand final will be held on Fri. 6th March. The valauable prize for the winning couple will be a weekend for two in Hotel Kilkenny. Music for next dance will be provided by Checkers. Admission is €8 including refreshments.

Taghmon ICA

The January meeting of Taghmon ICA takes place on Wednesday 21st January at 8pm in the Scout Hall. We look forward to seeing you all back for the new season and new members are always welcome.

Congrats to Clodagh Dunne who has been selected on the Irish U17 Team. The team will travel to Spain in February. Way to go Clodagh-The Club and County are very proud of you.

Clodagh added another string to her bow last weekend winning the Ulster Grade A Ladies Singles. At the Connacht Open she took the giant leap to the U17 age category. She won the U17 Girls Doubles and came runner up in the Singles and Mixed Doubles. The Shield Competition saw Taghmon walk away with two titles.

Some of the Divisions were a bit sluggish due to the Christmas break. In the 3rd Division Shield Taghmon were captained by Marie Kelly to victory. Also on the team were the following players Aoife Dunne, Lorraine Dunne (Shelbourne), John Walsh, Craig Healy, Graham Grant.

The 5th Division Shield Team were in splendid form and won the title. Team consisted ofBrandon Cogley, Ryan Cogley, James Mackenzie, Clodagh Dempsey, Martina Kelly Cogley, Margaret O'Regan. The Ladies & Gents League fixtures lists are available on the Taghmonbc facebook page.

Coiste na nOg

Registration night for Coiste na nOg will take place on Friday night January 30th in the Clubhouse Bar at 6.30pm to 7.30pm for all age groups U8 - U18. All new members welcome. Any parent wishing to register their child(6 years and over) for the 1st time please bring a copy of their birth certificate. IMPORTANT: Due to Insurance Regulations all players have to pay this fee before they play. Family Membership is €70, Students €30.

soccer news

First round Cup games were the focus of the soccer leagues in Wexford over the weekend. Our U12 girls had to overcome neighbours Adamstown 3-2 after extra time while the ladies also made it to the 2nd round with victory over St Cormac's, tthanks to an Aoife Morrissey penalty.

In the schoolboys matches the U16's were beaten by Forth Celtic A team 4-0 while the U14's put in a terrific effort against premier league team Moyne Rangers but just fell short at the end as the visitors won 2-1.

The Men's 1st team were beaten 4-2 in the league down at Rosslare Rangers. All the latest Club news up on the webpage.

Feile Peile na nOg will be held in Wexford on 26th & 27th June. Taghmon/Carmross LGFA have entered a team and hope to host a team, there will be an important meeting this Wednesday night 21st January for Parents/Guardians of the U14 Team.
