The Golden Eagles

The Golden Eagles were in Scarke this week with Eamonn Beck running out the winner. Ger Stafford and Eamon Beck winning the Birdie Clubs. In the monthly Aidan Colfer came 1st with Oliver Roche 2nd and Nicky" The Cute One " Doyle coming 3rd.


The parish of Bannow and Cullenstown were saddened by the death of Gerald Woolley last week after an illness. Gerald was 74 years of age and he is survived by his wife Dilys daughters Lillian, Bridget and son Ger ,grandchildren, relatives and many friends, his daughter Elizabeth pre deceased him a couple of months ago. His remains were taken to Carrig church on Saturday morning for prayers before going to Dublin for cremation. Deepest sympathy to the bereaved.

GAA club lotto

There was no jackpot winner in this week's lotto; numbers drawn were 6,19,31 and 32. 4 people matched three numbers Kathleen Harpur Bannow, John Brown Snr.,Cullenstown, Jim Ferguson Kilderry and Eithne Magee Bricketstown. Congrats to these winners next Jackpot draw takes place in Taghmon on Tuesday 21st April at 8.30pm.

Tea Dance

The next dance will be held in carrig on bannow community centre on Friday next 17th April music by Pat Daly. Teas and refreshments served dancing 9.30- midnight. Looking forward to seeing you there. Thanks to everyone who supported our last dance which we raised €1000 for Ballymitty new hall fund.

Deepest sympathy to the relatives and friends of Seamus O Sullivan Ballygow who passed away this week. Seamus was 89 years of age and is survived by his daughter. His remains were taken to Clongeen church and he was buried in Clongeen cemetery after funeral mass last Thursday. May he rest in peace.


Thursday night dancing in Tir na Nog is getting a major lift with the best social dance bands in the country playing there every Thursday night for the summer months . Starting with El Paso on Thursday 23rd April. A waltzing comp. will be starting soon also. So let's get dancing adm.€7 door prizes and refreshments in aid of Ballymitty handball club.

Clean Up

The Parish clean up is under way and a trailer will be available beside Bannow PO from this week for one week only so all roads need to be done this week. Bag available from Nicola or Joe Wallace. Please do your bit and keep our parish litter free.

The Danescastle Music Group will host its annual Junior Feile on Sunday 19th April.


Community centre A.G.M

Murrintown Community Centre Committee would like to inform everyone that the annual general meeting will take place on Wednesday 15th of April at 8pm in the centre. If you are interested in participating in community life and in the centre why not come along. Even if you are not interested why not come along to see what goes on in the centre on a daily basis.

Tractor/Vintage run

Our annual Tractor/Vintage run in aid of Murrintown Cemetery Development Fund will take place on Sunday 31st May. It will start at pm from Murrintown Community Centre. Cost os entry is €20 per vehicle. Hot lunch or salad will be served at 12.30pm, Family lunch: 2 adults + 2 children €25, Adult lunch €10, Child lunch €5. Come along and enjoy your dinner with no washing up. Your support would be greatly appreciated. Watch this space for further details.

Drinagh mummers

The mummers visited the Oak Tree in Folkmills recently and also the Slaney Inn in Oilgate and the Kilrane Inn. Where they preformed the ancient art of mumming. At a recent meeting of the mummers a vote of sympathy was passed to the Maddock family on the death of Nicholas a valued member of the Drinagh Mummers for many years also to Matty Murphy of Castlebridge on the death of his sister Mrs Walsh. R.I.P

GAA club Notes

Our intermediate footballers were beaten in the first round of the Championship last weekend by Ferns on a scoreline of 0- 9 to 1-11. Our Jun B team were beaten by St James in the first round of the district championship.

The Intermediate team play Bunclody next weekend in the second round of the championship in Patricks Pk on Sunday at 2.30pm.

Well done to Stephen O Gorman , Ian Carty and Stephen Stafford who were on the Wexford Minor hurling panel last weekend where they beat Laoise in the Leinster championship.

The Club Lotto was not won last week but there were four match 3 winners sharing €200, winners were Eithne McGee, Bricketstown; Kathleen Harpur, Bannow; John Brown, Cullenstown; Jim Ferguson, Kilderry. Next week's Jackpot will be €5600.

Coiste Na nOg

U14's held a Guess the Score Competition for a Feile fundraiser. The winners were Caitlin Nash & Seamus McLoughlin. Well done andthanks to all who supported.

Taghmon United fc

There is a Table Quiz in Alice Bradys this Friday at 8.30.Table of 4 €20 with spot prizes on the night.This is a Club Fundraiser so please make an effort and all participants are most welcome.

With one piece of Silverware in the Trophy Cabinet thanks to the Youth team Div 4 success our U16's are looking to add another as they remain in pole position in Div 4 with 2 games to go while our U14's are still in contention of Div 1A but might need results elsewhere to assist their cause. The U10 Girls lost out to Curracloe in the Cup semi final but put in a great shift and a great crowd turned up to cheer the girls on.

Ladies Football

Congratulations to the Taghmon/Camross Girls ,U14 Wexford Feile Champions for 2015.The girls won the Feile Peil na mBan Cup Final on Sunday 12th April in Glynn/Barntown by defeating St Martins 3-07 to 1-05.The cup was presented by Denis Nolan,Wexford Ladies Football County Chairperson to Captain Anna Eustace,this was a great team performance and the girls thoroughly deserved their victory,Team management was Kathleen,Eugene,Alan and Tina.

Equestrian News

Congratulations to the Loreto Novice School team of Rebecca Banville,Ciara Banville,Eimear Jackman and Sarah Whelan who all had clear rounds and made the jump off in Coilog, Co Kildare,in the All Ireland Interschool's Equestrian Finals.They only lost out by a few seconds in the speed round to take second place.

The girls took Novice League winners and Best Turned on the Day.Well done girls.

Camross Drama Group

Director and actors are rehearsing hard for the forthcoming performances of the 3 Act comedy "The Two Loves of Gabriel Foley" by Jimmy Keary. Please note date change-Camross Hall venue now Sunday 26th April; Horse & Hound- Ballinaboola-Thursday 23rd and Friday 24th April; St Michael's Hall- Wexford town-Thursday 30th April and Friday 1st May. All performances 8pm- Tickets €10 on door.

Caroreigh n.s.

Caroreigh Parents Council will hold a cake sale on Sunday 26th April after 11.15am mass in the Old School Caroreigh. Your support would be appreciated in donations of baked produce for the sale and also your attendance at the sale. All funds raised will be used for the benefit of the pupils of St. Garvans N.S.


The following activities are ongoing at the Centre in Joseph Street.

Monday Morning craft ladies, from 10:30am to 12:30pm Tuesday INOU drop in service if you need any help with form filling etc. Wednesday's women, Positive living group on Wednesday Mornings from 10:30am to 12:30pm. Next week's activity is Ballroom Fitness with Vilma.

Men's Shed and woodcarving project on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday afternoons. Friday morning Men's Breakfast, the cost is still the same at €2 donation to cover costs.

Literacy services one to one literacy tuition, Free of charge. office services, CV typing etc. are also available at the Centre.

On the First Tuesday of month there is a drop in service from the Wexford Women's Refuge.

Our Counsellor is available for private and confidential appointments, contact Trish on 087 7719984. The cost is only €4 donation.
