GAA club lotto

No jackpot of the Lotto. Winning numbers 3,7,11,28. Next jackpot will be 6200 euro. There was four match three numbers James Carroll Poulmarle, Paul Hannon Coolcull,Laurence Banville Kilgarvan and Pip Murphy Ballygow. Congrats to the winners and thanks to everyone who supports our two euro draw. Draw will take place in Taghmon on Tuesday 19th May.

Charity Jail Break

Margaret and Elaine Mernagh would like to thank everybody who supported or donated to the coffee morning for Elaine's charity jail break. It was a great success raising 1400 euro. Elaine and her friend came fourth out of 86 teams in Ireland for raising the most money. They ended up Lake Bled Slovenia busking and begging along their way. The charities involved were Vincent de Paul and Amnesty International.


Dancing continues every Thursday night in Tir na nOg music this Thurs 14th May The Wicklow Man, Saturday 16th May Theresa and the Stars, Thurs 21st May, Pat Hogan, Thurs 28st May Catherine and the Images. Adm 7 euro in aid of Ballymitty Handball club.

Pregnancy Yoga

Tractor Run

Our annual Tractor/Vintage run in aid of Murrintown Cemetery Development Fund will take place on Sunday 31st May. It will start at pm from Murrintown Community Centre. Cost of entry is €20 per vehicle. Hot lunch or salad will be served at 12.30pm. Family lunch: 2 adults + 2 children €25, Adult lunch €10, Child lunch €5.

Come along and enjoy your dinner with no washing up. Your support would be greatly appreciated. Tickets available from parish office, sold on a first come first served basis, don't be disappointed get your tickets early!

Community Games

The Local Athletic Finals will be held in the DMP grounds on Friday May 15th with registration starting at 6pm, there will be a €2.00 charge per child on the night. This will be a great night of fun for boys & girls from under 8's to under 16's. Children who compete on the night can qualify to represent our area in the County Finals in Bree.

Model railway exhibition

The Model railway and RNLI exhibition takes place on Sunday 17th May in the Community Centre in Murrintown from 1pm to 5pm. Adm €5 (children free) teas served on the day 3 euro each. All proceeds go to purchase and development of our new cemetery in Murrintown.

Congratulations to locals Jimmy Newport, Paul Murphy and John Sinnot, members of Newbawn Darts Club, who won the All Ireland Pubs & Clubs title at the final held in Springhill Court Hotel,Kilkenny on May Bank Holiday Monday.

Coiste na nOg

Well done to Liam Crowley (Hurling) and James Cleary (Football) who represented Our Lady's Island / St. Fintans Coiste Na nOg in the Feile Skills competition which took place in Ferns on Saturday.

Congratulations to Philip Foley and his Good Counsel, New Ross teammates on winning the McGirr Cup Junior All Ireland Football final in Clonmel recently. The Club would also like to congratulate Joshua Burke on being named on the U15 Wexford Development Football Squad.


We extend our deepest sympathy to Jackie Sutherland and family on the sad passsing of his sister Philomena. We extend sympathy also to the family of Lily Hanton who was laid to rest in Our Lady's Island cemetery on Sunday.

First Holy Communion

Twenty-four boys and girls pupils of Scoil Mhuire, Broadway received their First Holy Communion on Saturday during a beautiful ceremony in Church of the Assumption. The ceremony was enhanced by the beautiful singing of the school choir under the direction of Miss Gaul and the communicants undertook all their little duties with great confidence, thanks to their teacher Miss Druhan. Fr. Nolan thanked everyone who helped in preparing for this memorable day in the lives of the boys and girls.

Chloe Walsh Foundation

The Chloe Walsh Foundation, Temple Street Hospital, are holding a fundraiser tonight, 12th May, in Danby Lodge at 9p.m. entertainment by Jimmy Hogan, Blue Lace, Moynihan Brothers Band and Teddy & Cathal Barry. Door prizes. Adm. €7

There was no winner of last week's Jackpot of €3,600 so Our Lady's Island GAA lotto now stands at €3,900. Tickets may be purchased at local shops and from club members at a cost of €1.50. Our Lady's Island G.A.A. Club would like to thank all those who supported our recent Breakfast morning. The event was an extremely successful fundraiser for the Club and we would like to thank the organisers of the event and all those who helped out on the day. A special mention goes to teh two Chefs and also to their band of young helpers.

The Annual Leo Carthy Weekend will take place this year again on Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd August promising music, song, dance and family entertainment.

Taghmon/ Camross

Taghmon ICA

The May meeting of Tahmon ICA takes place on Wednesday 20th. The demonstration will be by Mary Egan who will talk about all things to do with gardening. She will answer all your questions' so please come along and join us. The demonstration starts at 8pm sharp and is open to non members and friends. See you in the Scout Hall.

GAA Notes

Our Jun B hurling team had their second win of the district championship last Friday night beating Fethard 1-13 to 2-5 and our Jun team had their second win as well beating Monagear 1-16 to 0-5. Next weekend its back to the football league when the Intermediate team play Duffry Rovers away on Sunday at 6pm.

There was no winner of the Lotto Jackpot last week, there were four match 3 winners, James Carroll Poulmarl, Paul Hannon Coolcull, Laurence Banville Kilgarvan and Pips Murphy Ballygow. The next draw will be on the 19th May when the Jackpot will be €6,200.

U8 are training hard in both Football and Hurling and all are putting in a great effort. U10 had a Hurling blitz on Wednesday evening last against Glenmore and Horeswood these games were part of the Cauifield League Tournament. They had a Football match cancelled on Friday evening due to the atrocious weather.

U12 are out in their first Football match of the season on Tuesday evening against Rathgarogue/Cushinstown. U14's played 2 hurling matches during the week and had 2 wins against St.Mary's Rosslare & New Ross. U16's had mixed luck during the week with a win against Crossabeg/Ballymurn and a loss to Cushinstown. They play football against St. Mary's Maudlintown on Monday.

Parents please take note that Cul camps will take place in Taghmon on the 10th August. Please check out Kellogs Cul Camp website for details.

Congratulations and well done to all our young players who made their Confirmation in Taghmon recently and to all in Carrowreigh who made their Communion last Saturday. Best wishes to our young players who will be making their Communion in Taghmon on Saturday 23rd May.

The minors had a good away win against Fethard on 27th April,Munn Abbain Gaels 3-4 Fethard -10.Thanks to everyone who donated clothes for the Lenrec collection recently,your support is greatly appreciated by the Ladies Football Club.

The girls under 12's played in Adamstown last Tues evening on a very cold and wet evening. The girls were down 3.3 to no score at half time. In the second half they got a goal very early and this raised there game and we went on a goal scoring spree to win 4.6 to 6.1. This was a fantastic team display and a remarkable turnaround well done girls.


We had a great day for the first day of our. Co. Championships at the new track in Ennicsorthy. With a record number of 27 competitors for the club. We had loads of new faces represent the club for the first time, and they certainly done themselves proud. Many making it to sprint semi finals and others reaching finals. No easy feat at county level.

Chloe O'Toole, Chloe Doyle, Orlaith O'Hanlon, Deven Colfer, Dearbhla O'Hanl=C3=B6n, Aisling Kelly, Val Whitty, Hannah R-Kelly, Muireann Hore, Bronagh O'Hanlon Dylan Colfer-Furlong and Padraig Hore.

Following the Co. Athletics Championships on Sunday, 2 athletes from Taghmon AC, Padraig Hore and his sister Muireann Hore travelled to St. Abban's AC Open Day in Moneva Co. Laois. First up was Muireann who ran very well in the 100m sprint and followed this up with a personal best of 6.67m in the U14 Shot Putt.

Padraig had a personal best in the discus, throwing 39.09m with a 1kg discus in the U15 competition as a guest. He followed this up by moving up an age and winning the U17 Shot Putt, throwing of 12.48m also a personal best. Well done to all Taghmon AC athletes on a great weekend of athletics.

The last two weeks saw the South Leinster Secondary schools take place in Kilkenny. Bronagh O Hanlon ( Presentation Wexford) won gold in the junior hammer. Padraig ( CBS New Ross) got 2nd in the Intermediate discus, 31.22m, he also secured 2nd in the lntermediate shot 12.56m a new pb for the 5kg. Dylan Colfer Furlong represented the Good Council New Ross. Joseph Hanlon (Ramsgrange community school ) was 2nd in the intermediate boys 2km race walk. Best of luck to those that progressed to Leinster level in the next few weeks.

golf society

A reminder about our next outing which is in St. Helens Bay Golf Resort on Saturday 16th May with the first tee time is at 13:30. A meal deal has also been arranged in the clubhouse for €10. The prizegiving will take place in Alice Bradys and all are encouraged to attend.

Please note the date for the Tramore outing might be changed to facilitate the National Féile Peil na nÓg competition being held in the village, we will keep you informed. Bring along a friend or a lapsed member as a visitor. A committee member will be in touch shortly.
