World Rosary Relay

The World Rosary Relay will be celebrated on Friday next, 12th June in Our Lady's Island church at 8pm sharp when the laity gather to pray for Priests.

We continue this world prayer taking over from the shrine of Our Lady of the Taper, Wales where at 7.30p.m. they celebrate the Joyful Mysteries, and at 8pm the Mysteries of Light will be celebrated in Our Lady's Island. All are welcome.

Senior Citizens Outing

The Our Lady's Island/Tacumshane Seniors Citizens day out will take place on Wednesday, 24th June leaving at 8.30am, heading to the Wax Museum, Dublin. Anyone interested please contact Amanda on 087-6221612.

Tractor Run

The annual Vintage Tractor Run in aid of Scoil Mhuire, Broadway will take place on Sunday next, 14th June leaving Our Lady's Island village at 12 noon. Lunch will be served for non-participants from 12.30pm-Adults €8, child €4.

This promises to be a great fun filled family day with face painting, children's games, etc. etc. Come along, join in the fun and support our parish school.


A big 'Thank You' to all the ladies who gave their time so generously helping with catering after Maura's funeral on Sunday.

Diamond Anniversary

Congratulations to popular local couple Donnie & Moira Potter, The Mill, Carne who celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary on Monday. We wish them health, happiness and many more years together.

Fun Bike Run

The Fun Bike Run on Sunday next, 14th June in aid of Kilmore Lifeboat will leave Kilmore Lifeboat Station at 11a.m., There are two routes to choose from 36k or 20k €10 per person with Registration at 10.30a.m.Refreshments will be served at the station. There will be water stops along the way on the 20k route. Sponsorship cards available on request.

Community Lotto

There was no winner of last week's jackpot of €3,300. The numbers were 2,5,20,30. Congratulations to the 8 match 3 winners who each receive €38. Father's Day Mass

St Annes Athletic Club

Congratulations to Liam Berry who competed at the Leinster Championships last weekend. Liam won a silver medal in U12 Long Jump and won a silver medal with the U13 county relay team. Well done Liam.

Cycle Run

There will be a Cycle Run on Sunday 14th June starting at 10.30am in Kilmore Quay at the lifeboat station.

Church Refurbishment

The heating refurbishment of Rathangan Church began on Monday May 11th. The Church will be closed to the public for approximately one month for health and safety reasons. All Saturday evening and Sunday morning masses will be held in Duncormick Church from Monday 11th May until further notice.

Emergency church services e.g Funerals etc. will be held in Cleariestown, Duncormick or Carrig-On-Bannow Churches. Parishioners full co-operation would be appreciated during this time of refurbishment.

Vintage and Cycle Run

A vintage and cycle run will take place in aid of Rathangan Church Restoration Fund on Sunday June 21st. Walkers and strollers also welcome. The run will be followed by social and BBQ at The Temple Bar, music by Hot Asphalt, Nick Furlong and Tony Jeffers. There will also be a raffle on the night. Admission to social and BBQ €5.

Tidy Towns

Duncormick Area Action Group has once again entered this year's Tidy Town's Competition with judging from June-August. We are appealing to everyone to help us in obtaining better results this year and be proud of our village. We would also like to ask everyone to use the litter bins provided in the village.

GAA Cúl Camp

This year's Kellogg's GAA Cúl Camp for both boys and girls covering Football, Hurling and Camogie will take place in St. Anne's GAA Club Grounds from 20th to 24th of July. Children will get to learn GAA games from qualified coaches in a safe and fun environment. Children from 6 to 13 years can be registered online at

If the booking is made online or through the application form before June 1st the children will receive this years Cúl Camp gear before school ends. Cost of Cúl Camp this year is as follows: 1st Child €55, 2nd Child €45, 3rd & 4th Child €40 each.

Variety Group

Following on from the phenomenal success of our three previous shows "Oliver", "The Sound Of Music", and "Annie", Rathangan Variety Group are hosting an information night/ AGM in Rathangan Hall on Tuesday 9th June at 8pm.

We would love to welcome new members to both committee level and to the group.If you don't feel you have what it takes to "tread the boards" perhaps you could "push a pen" instead.

The St.Vincent de Paul will hold the summer church gate collection on Saturday and Sunday 27th and 28th June. Your support for this organisation is needed now more than ever. Many thanks for your support.

Rosslare Harbour

Summer Fun Playscheme

The Kilrane Rosslare Harbour Tops/Community Group's 3rd Annual Summer Fun Playscheme will take place from Monday 27th July to Friday 31st July in Kilrane School. The Playscheme will include drama, write your own script, costume making, prop making, hip hop dance workshops, team building, arts and crafts and stage confidence workshops. The week will conclude with a performance of their work by the children on the Friday afternoon for all parents and friends. Tea and cake will be served.

This project is facilitated by KRH Tops/Community Group and is run by a fully qualified Primary School teacher and a fully qualified Dance Instructor. Ages are from 4 to 15 years and the fee per child is £55 with family discount applied. The day starts at 10am and finishes at 2pm each day, with drinks and a snack provided. Our theme this year is Outer

pongo in the park

There will be a 'Pongo in the Park' session held on Sunday 12th July as part of the Kilrane Rosslare Harbour Community Weekend, in the Memorial Park, Rosslare Harbour. All proceeds will be in aid of St. Mary's Daycare Centre, Tagoat.

Pongo will commence at 2.00pm sharp and there will be loads of activities in the Memorial Park on that afternoon such as Facepainting, Bric a Brac, craft stalls, tea and cake stall, bouncy castles, Hook a Duck, Crazy Golf and live music from The Backbeats.

On Saturday 11th July there will be a 'Strictly With A Twist&' night with a fun dance competition with 'celebrity' judges and guest MC. Come on down see some lovely ballroom dancing and vote for your favourite


We extend sympathy to the following families who have suffered bereavements recently. The Walsh Family, Lifeboat Terrace, on the passing of Ann on May 20th. Ann (nee Long) a native of Orristown, came to Rosslare Harbour in 1969 to work in the Great Southern Hotel. She was a very gentle and caring lady, but had been in failing health for sometime.

Ann is deeply missed by her husband Brendan, daughter Patricia, son Andrew, daughter-in-law Vicky, grandsons Toby, Corey and Finley, brother David, sisters Margaret, Mary, Theresa and Susan, uncle, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law ,nephews, nieces, relatives and friends. Ann was predeceased by her brother Tom.

Condolences to the Ferguson family, The Forge, Kilrane, on the death of Richie who passed away on May 27th. Richie was the youngest of a large family and farmed locally all his life. His favourite pastime was a game of darts. Deepest sympathy to his wife Joyce, step daughters, Millie, Jackie and Tracey, sister Lucy, brother-in-law Tony, sister-in-law Mary, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends. Richie was predeceased by his stepdaughter Kay.

Condolences also to the Power family, Ballycronigan, Kilrane who suffered a double bereavement on the deaths of Madge on May 24th and her daughter Betty on May 29th. Madge (nee Stewart) was the oldest of a large family and a native of Our Lady's Island Parish. She was a very sociable lady and loved a game of cards. She was most happy attending her garden, which was always well manicured and greatly admired. Madge was predeceased by her husband Ger.

Betty grew up in Rosslare Harbour and moved to Dublin. She would spend many weekends visiting her mother in Ballycronigan. Betty is remembered fondly as a very softly spoken and gentle lady, who bore her illness with great fortitude. Madge and Betty are deeply missed by the Power and Dann families. Maxine, Carmel, Fintan, Des, Denise, Gillian, John, Eben, Peader, Marie, Violet, Jason, grandchildren, greatgrandchildren, brothers-law, sisters-law, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends. May they all rest in Peace

St Helens Bay gc

The revival of the popular annual Festival of Golf & Food brought visitors from seven different clubs and St Helens looked her best for the occasion. Each and everyone were fulsome in their praise for the course.

It was great to see the members and visitors enjoying themselves over the Bank holiday weekend-the buzz is back in St Helens, so come on down !

Health & Wellness Day: The South-eastern Region of Active Retirement Ireland will be holding an exhibition At Whites Hotel, Wexford, on Wednesday, 17th June, 2015, from 10.30am to 4.30om. Entrance is free. There will be stands for hobbies, travel, sport, lifestyle, fitness and health. There will also be Music, dancing and entertainment as well as demonstrations and talks. Next meeting is in the Community Centre on Wednesday 10th June 10.30a.m. Volunteers please note Judging will soon take place. We ask that all play their part by picking up litter and pulling weeds in their own areas. All Estates have now been entered and judging will take place in July, results announced at the Field Day.
