RNLI lifeboat day
Kilmore Quay Lifeboat would like to thank everyone who supported us on our recent Lifeboat Day. It was another great success. Winners of the Raffle: 1st prize, Lifeboat Cake donated by Sophicakes, was won by Pauline Rossiter; 2nd prize , €50 voucher donated by Kehoes Hardware and Marine Supplies, was won by Anne Walsh; 3rd prize, Dinner for 2 donated by The Silver Fox, was won by Sarah Burton; 4th prize, Tatoo Voucher donated by Kevin Killeen, was won by Paul Doyle.
Our Lady's Island
The Kilmore parish night in Our Lady's Island takes place this Tuesday evening (18th). We will begin at 7pm with the rosary and procession around the island followed by Mass in the Church at 8pm. Once again it would be lovely to see a full Church for this celebration and parishioners from all four areas of our parish are most welcome.
Kilmore Utd are holding a Golf Classic on 19th September in St. Helens & all funds raised will go to the building project which should have commenced by then. Entry per team of 4 is €80 & scramble rules (best ball) apply so you don't need to be a keen golfer to have a great day & be in with a shout. There will also be prizes for nearest the pin & longest drive, for any queries or to book a tee-time (after 11) please contact either Cormac on 085-1296579 or Junior 086-8139842.
GAA-Coiste na nOg
Congratulations to our U12 hurlers who have qualified for the County Final of their Division. Well done to everyone involved. They play Clongeen in the final on Sunday 23rd August in Rathangan at 11.00 a.m. If you can come along to support the team it would be greatly appreciated.
All our underage teams will be involved in the knockout stages of the hurling & football championships over the coming weeks. Fixture details will be published here, and on Facebook-all support will be appreciated by the teams involved.
Kilmore Camogie Club will hold its annual Autumn Clothes collection on Saturday 3rd October 9.30 to 12.30 in Kilmore gaa club rooms.. so if you are planning a summer clean out we will glady accept all clothes, shoes, belts, handbags, curtains, towels, bed linen and soft toy.
Off to All Ireland
The Scout team of Saoirse Foley PL, Callum Dove APL,Alex Brady, Haley Power,Niamh Bradfield, Matthew Philips, Conor Lamber and Jack Lambert are off to Limerick on Wednesday next to take part in the All Ireland Scoutcraft Competition which takes place from 20th-23rd August inclusive.
They will be joined by Rachel Brady Venturer and Nick Hayes Scouter who will be on Staff for the competition. The Junior team will join them on Saturday to cheer them on in the Trek Cart Race and other weekend activities.
Over 100 teams from 32 counties, approx 1000 scouts, will be taking part so it is a fantastic achievement just to be part of it, meet new people, learn new skills and create memories to last a lifetime.
Kilmore last qualified in 2001 so the excitement in the Group is palpable as the team have worked hard since winning the Co Competition in June, updating their skills.
The Group would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who supported their various fund raising events over the past few weeks which has made it all possible. Good Luck Team
5K Fun Run/Walk
The day is fast approaching for the inaugural Fun Run in Tomhaggard which takes place Sun 23rd Aug at 11am. Registration takes place 9.30-10.30 in Social Centre, cost Adults €10, child €5 Family €20.
There will be Pony Rides (bring bicycle helmet), face painting, a Monster Raffle, Refreshments after the Run, and spot prizes Galore for competitors, thanks to the generous sponsorship of many businesses in the locality. Eimear and Sarah have put a huge amount of work into organising this day and it promises to start your Sunday off in style so come along and join in the fun
A 3 week baby reflexology class is starting in Kilmore Quay on Thursday 27th August at 11am. Learn simple reflexology and massage techniques to help ease digestive issues, soothe and comfort, increase bonding and improve immunity. Classes are relaxed and baby led and last approx 1 hour. Congratulations to Kevin Casey better known as Nasher Libgate Kilmore Quay who celebrated his 21st birthday last week with a party in Duncormack. Kevin is son of Geraldine and Kevin.
Our Family Fun Day event takes place next Sunday 23rd August; events will kick off at 1pm and continue until 6pm.
An array of activities planned as follows: Children's Events - Egg & Spoon Races, Sack Races, Bouncy Castle, Face Painting, Red Moon Theatre, Magician, Penalty Shoot Out. Adult Events - Tug O' War. Sack Races, Ladies Races, Ladies & Gents Mud Wrestling, Sumo Relay Racing, Three Legged Racing, Horse Shoe Throwing, Penalty Shoot Out, Bottle Fishing, Duck Racing, Baloon Car, Wet Sponge Throwing, Basketball. A marquee on site will provide teas, confectionery, Cake Sale, Ice Cream,. B.B.Q with burgers, Cotton Candy.
All monies raised and sponsorship received will benefit three chariites- Wexford Hospice Homecare, Irish Society for Autism, and Kilmore Village enhancement project. Our Lady's Island
Our Lady's Island pilgrimage continues with Mass every day at 3p.m. and 8p.m. and confession available after each Mass. This Wednesday, 19th August we have the very popular ceremony "A Time to Heal" at 8p.m.
Pre-school Open Day
Paisti Beaga Preschool will hold an Open Day this Friday, 21st August at 2:00 pm. Everyone welcome. Club Super Cash Draw
O.L.I.-G.A.A Club are holding a Super Cash Draw. First prize is €1,000, second prize €100 and third prize €100. The draw will take place on Saturday, 5th September in The Island Bar. Tickets are €5 each and are available from all club members or Rosaleen Keegan, Club Secretary.
Hospice Coffee Day
Dympna Kelly, Kilgarvan will host a coffee day in aid of Wexford Hospice Homecare in her home on Monday 31st August from 10am to 10pm. Please come along and support this very worthy cause,
Next weekend, Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd August will be two very busy days in the Camross and Adamstown areas as Wexford Wheelers will host the Stafford Wholesale 2 Day cycle race with up to 250 cyclists partaking on both days.
All races will start and finish at Camross hall so great care will be required to ensure the safety of all. Please obey the marshalls and organisers and come out and enjoy the event.
The organising committee together with the Monaghan family would like to thank everyone, (including mother nature for a fine, sunny day!) who helped make this year's Festival a great success.
The standard of musicianship was very high in both Junior and Senior categories. The event ran smoothly and everyone, buskers, bikers, BBQ lovers and spectators alike, enjoyed themselves.
The winners of the Raffle were: 1st-Joan Whitty, 2nd-Larry Whelan, 3rd-Con Donnelly Jr, 4th-Maggie Morrissey, 5th-Mary Doran, 6th-Bob Hellen-thanks to all who sold and bought tickets. The winner of the Motorcycle Poker Run was TJ Furlong and thanks to Mick Nash for organising the run.
The Festival is non-profit making but needs funds for prizes, insurance and advertising. The committee are taking a well earned break now, but will be meeting next year to plan the 3rd Joe Monaghan Busking Festival in summer 2016.
Camross Drama Group
The Group will hold its Annual General Meeting on Monday 24th August at 8pm in Caroreigh Old School. All welcome, including new members.
The Group has been busy over the summer with rehearsals for the One Act Plays well underway. Plans are also afoot for the 60th Anniversary celebrations-watch this space for more details very soon! Find CDG on Facebook for news updates.

Our two hurling teams had great wins over the weekend. The Junior B team beat Clongeen 1-14 to 0-8 to qualify for the Dist semi final and the Junior team had a 3-25 to 0-7 win over Gorey.
Next week's fixture is the last game in the Intermediate football against Ballyhogue when a win would put us through to the quarter final-it's in Killurin on Sunday 23rd at 6.30pm.
There was no winner of the Lotto jackpot last week, there were nine match 3 winners: Willie Culliton, Sheastown; Liam Dempsey c/o Noel Bennett; Maureen Furlong, Yoletown; Marie Carty, Ballinknock; Liam Hore, Ferrycarrig; Paddy Hannon, Littlegraigue; Maher Girls, Caroreigh; Breda Breen, Castlehayestown; Stephen Creane c/o Rochfords.
Next week's Jackpot will be €8300 and the draw will be in Granstown on Tuesday night.

We had a great turn out for the Cul Camps in Taghmon last week. 86 boys and girls took part for the week of learning new skills and plenty of fun. We were blessed with the weather for the full week which always helps with the enjoyment. Lee Chin came to visit the camp and there was great excitement at his arrival. There are some great pictures on the Official Wexford GAA Facebook page for you to view. Thanks to Shane O'Hanlon and his group, the kids had a great week.
Congratulations to the U14 girls who won their final today. Well Done to the team & their management.
Our U12's played in their Final on Saturday in St. Patrick's Park against Horeswood. Unfortunately the game didn't go our way but the boys kept trying & never gave up against a very strong opposition.
They continue on now in hurling and play a quarter final this Tuesday evening against Gusserane in Taghmon at 7pm.
U14's play in the Sheild semi-final in football against Realt Na Mara in Ballygarrett at7pm on Thursday 20th.
The u8's had a blitz day playing games against Gusserane and Ramsgrange. Well done to all involved, a great day was had by all. Thanks to Amy and Mary for all your help during the year and to Jeanette for being a great team manager learning the skills to our future stars.
The u10's have had a great year winning all their matches, making new friends, developing their skills and having fun learning.
The u12's played away to St Fintans on Tuesday evening and it finished Taghmon/Camross 2-2 St Fintan's 3-8, with Taghmon scores from Catherine Hayes 1-0 and Megan O'Sullivan 1-2. Well done to all involved. The cup and shield semi finals will soon be played in this age group.
The u16's played Naomh Eanna in Taghmon and this was another great display of football, the girls winning 4-12 to 0-4. The next match is at home to Glynn/Barntown on 26th August.
Our minors lost to St Martins 6-8 to 1-10. The Junior ladies lost to Naomh Eanna in the championship in Taghmon and will now go in the shield competition.

CASTLE VINTAGE CLUB
The Castle Vintage Club Family Fun Evening will take place in Rochford's Camross on Saturday 22nd August. Starting with Adult Cycle Run at 4pm followed by BBQ plus many other attractions.
