Athletic Club News
Adamstown Athletic Club will host their 8 Annual Open Cross Country on Sunday 13th September starting at 12 o'clock. There will be medals for the first 12 individuals in U9 -U14 categories. Medals for the first 6 individuals in the U15 -U16 categories and prizes for the first 3 individuals in the Junior/ Senior competitions.
Please note change of date for Harvest Festival Day - Sunday 20th September. Next meeting is on Wednesday 26th August in the Community Centre at 8pm.
Our Lady's Island
Our Annual Parish Pilgrimage to Our Lady's Island will take place on Monday Aug 31st. We will gather in front of Our Lady's Island Church at 7pm & process around the island. Mass will commence at 8pm. Later we will stop at the Coopers Arms for refreshments. All are welcome.

CASTLE VINTAGE CLUB
The Castle Vintage Club Family Fun Evening will take place in Rochford's Camross on Saturday 22nd August. Starting with Adult Cycle Run at 4pm followed by Music by Freeway, BBQ plus many other attractions. All support would be greatly appreciated.
The Monster Barn Dance takes place this year on Saturday 5th September in Byrne's Grain Store. The band on the night will be 'The Colonials' followed by a disco till late! This year the proceeds will go towards the final refurbishment of Bree Community Centre. Tickets are now on sale locally.
Pilgrimage season to Our Lady's Island continues with Mass each day at 3pm and 8pm with confessions after each Mass. Bree Parish Pilgrimage to the Island takes place on Monday August 24th beginning with Rosary and Procession at 7pm and followed by Mass at 8pm. All are most welcome to attend.
Bree Youth Club
Bree Youth Club will hold its annual Registration night on Friday 4th September in Bree Community Centre. The club has two categories: Junior, catering for those from 10 years of age to the end of 6th class, which runs from 7-8pm, and Senior, for all secondary school students, running from 8-9.30pm. Anyone interested in being involved in Bree Youth Club this year should come to Bree Community Centre, accompanied by a parent or guardian, on Friday 4th September between 7 and 8.30pm.
Following registration regular youth club nights will commence on Friday 11th September and will continue for most Friday nights throughout the year. Once registered club members can come to meet their friends, make new friends and enjoy the many activities organised by the club.
We encourage participation in the activities and events that the club provides. These include competitions between other clubs at county and All-Ireland level, such as soccer, basketball and variety competitions. There are also discos and inter-club parties for junior and senior members, and many other activities organised by Bree Youth club.
Youth Club Volunteers
Bree Youth Club is run by a group of volunteers made up of parents, adults and junior leaders from the area. All have undergone Volunteer Awareness training and Leader training by FDYS and are garda vetted by Youth Work Ireland.
In order to ensure the smooth running of the club, to cater for increasing membership and extended club times the club needs more parents and adults to become involved as leaders.
Leaders will be required to supervise at club nights and the occasional disco, amounting to a total of 10-12 hours over the course of the entire year. Training will be provided free of charge by the club.
If any parent or young adult would like to be involved please speak to any club leader on Registration night. Remember, the future of the club depends on volunteers and leaders.
The Comhaltas Seisiún Sessions, in association with Celtic Roots, continues in Bree Community Centre on Tuesday nights at 8.30pm until next Tuesday night 25th. Each Session begins with the serving of scones and tea / coffee followed by a full programme of Music, Song, Dance and Storytelling. Cost is €10 for adults with concessions for large groups and children. For bookings and further details contact 087-7535354.
The club is looking for a manager and trainers for the men's teams for the upcoming season. If you are interested please contact the club on 0868587937. The club is hoping to reintroduce underage girls teams for the upcoming season. Depending on numbers, we hope to have teams ranging from under 10s up to ladies.

Ladies Soccer recommences Thurs 20th Aug at 7.30pm. All new and returning members welcome.

Bree Community Centre
Organisations using or intending to use Bree Community Centre for the resumption of activities in September are asked to contact Eddie Dunne to confirm, book regular meetings, classes and events. This is to ensure that there are no overlaps or confusion around bookings.
Bree AC news
Sophie McCabe, Bree AC has had a great summer athletic season. In July, she won the U18 and Senior County titles in Triple Jump with 11.05m.
At the National AAI U18 Championships she won the Triple Jump, was 3rd in the 400m and was 4th in both the 200m and LJ. She won the Triple Jump in the Tailteann Games and she competed for Ireland in the Triple Jump in the SIABs International in Grangemouth, Glasgow where she finished in 5th place. In August she won the Celtic Games International in the Triple Jump again in Grangemouth, Glasgow with a PB of 11.52m and was a member of the Irish U18 Ladies Team which finished in 2nd place. She recently finished 4th in the National Senior AAI Championships.
Well done to all those competing in the Community Games National Finals in Athlone last weekend. Liam Donohoe and Caoimhe Monahan took part in the individual Handwriting Competitions with Coaimhe winning the fourth place medallion. Claire Whelan, Abi Cullen, Holly Furlong and Conor Dempsey took part in individual swimming events. Abi and Holly were both fifth in their respective finals.
The debating team of Sarah Byrne, Elijah Grocock, Rachel Long and Peter Rodgers was beaten by Galway in the semi-final but won the playoff to take the bronze medals. Well done and many thanks to managers Tracy Cullen and James Byrne.
This weekend Sarah Byrne competes in National Solo Singing and twenty seven athletes compete in the athletics finals. Those taking part are Maura Doyle, Abbie Doyle, Gracie Kehoe, Ryan Whelan, Oisin Rochford, Robbie Chapman, Ella Doyle, Anna Jevens, Leah Nolan, Donna Delahunty, Lucy Kehoe, Amy Doyle, Aoibhinn Crean, Cillian Doyle, Darragh Kehoe, Craig Andrews, Sean Fitzpatrick, Sophie Codd, Laura Butler, Claudia O'Neill, Ellie Jevens, Katie Whelan, Gillian Smith, Aoife Muldoon, Annalise Crean, Mairead Crean and Katie Mai McCabe. There was no winner of the lotto jackpot held in The Slaney Inn, Oylegate on Wednesday August 5th. The lucky dip winners were Sarah O'Brien, Tom Murphy, Michael and Joan Doyle, John Reck Senior, Catherine Kavanagh, Diner Staff, Molly Quigley, and Annie Dobbs. Camogie Club News
On Monday night August 3rd the U16s played Blackwater, beating them on a scoreline of 7-9 to 1-6.
This meant the girls were in a three way play off! They were first out of the draw and straight into the semi-final against Slaney Gaels which took place on Wednesday night August 5th. Unfortunately the girls lost the match on a scoreline of 4-6 to 1-3 and their excellent year has come to an end.
On Tuesday night August 4th the U10 girls beat Blackwater 5-3 to 2-0. Well done girls! On Thursday night the Intermediates played Bunclody in the quarter final. The girls unfortunately lost out 2-6 to 1-7 after a hard fought battle.
Oylegate/Glenbrien GAA club will hold their annual golf classic on Friday August 28th in Wexford Golf Club. It will be a scramble format. Team of 4 costs €160 which includes dinner. For time sheet please contact Eamon Mernagh.
Half Marathon/10km run
On Sunday August 30th Oylegate/Glenbrien GAA club in association with county Wexford Hospice Homecare are running their annual half marathon and 10km, and this year we have a fun only 5km walk/run. For further details please contact Billy Reck at 087 2493152.
