Kilmore

Bridgetown Handball

Congratulations to Willie Murray Byrne who won the coveted John Ryan Trophy last Wednesdsy in an epic final against Ciaran Busher. Willie started very well and won the first game 21-12, making some great kills in the process. Ciaran took control in the second game and won it 21-7 to take it to a tiebreaker to 11 aces. Ciaran served first and when he went 3-0 and then 8-3 up it looked all over for Willie. He dug deep however and tweaked his serve which got him back into it. In the closest final in years he came from behind and pipped Ciaran by the narrowest of margins 11-9. What a game and well done to both players for producing their A game in the Final.

Many thanks to John Ryan's wife Margaret and his daughter Ann for taking the time out to come to Bridgetown to present the trophy.
