Following on from the success of our recent Facebook for Business events the digital media experts in iCandy Marketing will be running another Facebook for Business Training event in the office of Bridge PC Repair, Wellingtonbridge on Thursday 26th November from 6.00pm-9.00pm.

Camogie Notes

Bannow/ Ballymitty Camogie club will hold their annual General Meeting in the complex at Grantstown on Friday 27th November at 8.30. Looking forward to seeing you all there especially parents of underage players and all members. Everyone welcome.

Cookery Demonstration

The Parents Association of Gusserane NS are holding a cookery demonstration, hosted by Edward Hayden, in the Horse and Hound, Ballinaboola on Thursday November the 19th at 8pm. Tickets can be booked by contacting Sandra on 087 6367213 or Anna on 0879496122.

The Dance

This month's dance takes place on Friday 20th November in Carrig on Bannow Hall from 9.30. Dancing with Pat Daly, teas and refreshments served and proceeds to local charities. Admission is €8-come along for a great nights dance and entertainment.


There is great interest in the Christmas tournament both Juveniles and adults with over 50 entries so far.

The handball club AGM is in Tuesday 24th November at 7.45pm in the club room.

Community Alert AGM

The community alert AGM was held last Wednesday night and the new committee is Chairperson Nicola Howlin, Secretary Eleanor Cunningham, and Treasurer Wendy Staunton a good crowd attended and Garda Buggy reminded people to be security conscious during the winter months especially with oil tanks etc. If you haven't paid your 5 euro text alert fee please drop it into Nicola or give to Wendy please.

Next Grantstown Sunday Tea Room is a Bumper Christmas Tea Room on Sunday 13th December with home-made crafts, Christmas gifts & lots of Christmas Home Baking.

FLOWER ARRANGING: Bernie from Wallace's Garden Centre is willing to share her Flower Arranging Skills on Tuesday 1st & Tuesday 8th December for 2 classes. The cost is €12.00 and Bernie will provide greenery. Numbers to be confirmed by Monday 16th November.

Split The Pot

Last week's winner was Kay Gaul, Coolishall who won a Record pot of €734 drawn by Rory Stafford in Staffords of Tullycanna.

Split the pot buckets are currently in 14 businesses around the parish. Stafford's Tullicanna, Supervalu, Homeplace, Diskin Design, Tir Na Og, Wellingtonbridge PO, Wallace's Hardware, Trish's Hair Salon, all in Wellingtonbridge, Carrig PO, Breda's Corner Shop, Colfers Pub, Mr Spud, all in Carrig, Will Cullen's Cullenstown, Breen's Dirr,

All money from this fundraiser is going towards paying for the Corach pitch development and dressing rooms at our grounds in Carrig on Bannow. We would like to thank all the local businesses and people for their support.


Athletic Club

Congratulations to Jackie Carthy who won the W45 British and Irish masters cross country, leading the Irish team to victory.

Handball AGM

Reminder that the Bridgetown Handball Club AGM will be held next Monday 23rd November 2015 at 8pm in Bridgetown Vocational College. We would appreciate if the parents/guardians of our juvenile members could attend this important meeting.

On the courts Micheal, Brian, Ciaran and Máire Busher are all still in contention to reach the knockout stages in the County Championships. The position will be a lot clearer after this week's series of games.

Community Alert

The annual review meeting will take place on Monday 16th November at 8pm in Kilmore GAA clubrooms. It is intended to have guest speakers from the Gardaí at the meeting to assist and highlight activities to help community members. All are welcome. Meals on Wheels

Do you have some 1 and 2 cent coins you need to get rid of? Why not add them to our 'Meals on Wheels Fundraising Pot' in the Stella Maris Centre. Your support is appreciated for this great community service, many thanks!

Disability Lift

Our community has received the fantastic news of government grant aid to help us install a disability lift in the Stella Maris Centre. This will be a welcome and wonderful addition to the Centre.

The Development Committee has appointed consultant engineers to manage the project to begin immediately. Planning permission was awarded by Wexford County Council some time ago. It is hoped that we will see the appointed building contractor on site in the new year.

Carol service

There will be a carol service in St. David's church, Mulrankin on Sunday 13th December. Choir practice every Wednesday night at 8pm in Mulrankin church for those who would like to take part, all welcome.

Remembrance walk

A huge thank you to all who took part in and/or contributed to our recent Remembrance walk in Mulrankin on All Saints Day 1st November, it was a beautiful afternoon and the walk was well attended and enjoyed by those who participated. A total of €450 was raised for Mulrankin bicentenary fund, your generosity is much appreciated, thanks again.

ICA Notes

The Kilmore Quay Seniors' Christmas party is on Sunday 29th November in the Danby Lodge, meal starts at 3pm. If you haven't received your ticket, and you think you may be entitled to one, please contact Breda Whelan 0863258386. There will be music, delicious food and Santa and his helpers will be in attendance.

The raffles for the party funds will take place on Friday 20th November in Quigley's, kilmore, after 9pm.

Christmas Fair

Bingo Changes

Please note that due to the Christmas Party, the November Bingo will be held a week early on Sunday 22nd, not the last Sunday of the month as it usually is. We will still have loads of prizes and a get together for all friends and neighbours. Please pass the message on.

Ballycogley Players

Church presents The Ballycogley Players with 3 One act comedies on Friday 20th November in Kilmore National School at 8pm in aid of the Mulrankin Church Bicentenary fund. Hope to see you all there, plenty of laughs guaranteed on the night.

Bridgetown Boxing Club

It's all go in the Bridgetown area with the initial stages of a boxing club being put in place at a meeting at the local community hall.

Cllr Mick Roche the organiser said this is creating a lot of interest arouned the locality there is a massive catchment area arouned Bridgetown ranging from kilmore, Duncormic, Rathangan, Murrintown, Ballymore and May glass. Also this would be very beneficial for everyone children and adults alike to get involved.When asked what would be needed in the future, Cllr Mick Roche said.

We are having a meeting on 19th November in the AOH hall in Bridgetown at 8pm to form a committee and pick a name for the club. Everyone welcome. Looking forward we will be looking for coaches and sponsorship for all the gear that is needed. Funding will play a major part in getting this of the ground. Bake Sale thanks

A huge thank you, on behalf of the Kilmore PA, Kilmore ICA and Bridgetown School Completion Programme, to all who donated baked goods & to those who came and supported the Bake Sale on 23rd October. There was just under €1,000 raised on the day, which has been split between the two nominated charities; counselling services for the community via Talk to Tom & the Cottage Autism Network. Many thanks again. Your support, as always, is greatly appreciated.

Indoor bowls league

The fifth round of the county indoor bowls league resulted in two defeats for the Kilmore ARA teams last week. The A team lost 13-1 to The Ballagh on Monday in The Ballagh, team members were Josephine O'Shea, Toddy Moore, Seamus O'Keeffe and Mike Richards.

The B team lost to Gorey on Wednesday in the Stella Maris by 15 to 2, team was Margaret Howlin, Josephine O'Shea, Anne Lawless and Agnes Behan.

On Tuesday 17th the A team are at home to Bree while A team are away to Ferns on Thursday 19th, both games at 2pm.

Active Retirement news

Kilmore Active Retirement Association members will be enjoying their Christmas lunch on Wednesday 18th in Danby Lodge. Please remember that we will not have any bowls that day because of our lunch. This is always a most enjoyable day and with a well know group providing the music and with "guest spots" from members it should be well worth attending.

A reminder to members to get their raffle tickets in to the secretary as soon as possible, also the nominations and motions form for our AGM on 3rd December to be sent in as soon as possible also.

A European Cooking Demonstration with Emmett Maher, head chef of the Brandon House Hotel will take place on Thursday 26th November at 7pm in St. Mary's Day Care Centre. The St Mary's Camogie Club AGM will be held on Tuesday 24th November in the clubhouse beginning at 8 pm. All are welcome to attend.
