It really was a night to remember for Deirdre Miller from Rosslare Harbour when she attended Tommy Fleming's show in the National Opera House recently. Not only did she get to see her all-time favourite singer live on stage, she also got to meet him in the flesh afterwards and have her picture taken with him.

The Area Swimming finals which will be held in Ferrybank Swimming Pool on Sunday 28th February at 4.15pm sharp. Entry fee €3 per child. U8 and U10-one length, U12, U14 and U16 two lengths of pool. The ethos of Community Games is based on participation and fun, children of all abilities are welcome to participate so come along and swim in the area finals. Wellness talk

The local Active Retirement club have organised a Wellness & Challenging Times talk given by Linda Thorpe, Area Development Officer, Mental Health Ireland in St Martins Community Centre Piercestown on Tuesday 1st March at 2.30 pm. Come along for this very interesting talk/discussion. Entry Free. Cuppa Tea on arrival.

Seniors A.G.M.

Our Lady's Island/Tacumshane Senior Citizens Committee will hold their Annual General Meeting on Tuesday, 23rd February in O.L.I. Community Hall at 8p.m. All are welcome.

GAA Club Membership

Club membership fees for 2016 are now due. Club membership rates for 2016 are €80 for players, €50 for students and €40 for non-players. Membership is to be paid to Club Secretary, Rosaleen Keegan by 31st March 2016. Anyone who wants to pay by direct debit contact Rosaleen Keegan for the relevant forms.

Please note that only those who have paid membership by 31st March are entitled to vote at the AGM or at any other significant club meeting that may take place during 2016.

Drama Time

The Ballycogley Players present 'The Cripple of Inishmaan' in St.Michaels Hall, Thomas Street, Wexford this Friday, 19th & Saturday, 20th February at 8pm . Admission: €10 at the door each night. We look forward to your support!

GAA Fundraising

O.L.I. Club are holding a quiz night on Friday, 26th February at 9pm in Butlers. There will be prizes on the night and a raffle.

On Sunday 20th March, a Fun Run has been organised, starting at the pitch at 2.30pm, around the block in Carne and ending at the pitch. Refreshments will be served afterwards. More information to follow nearer to the date.

A cake sale is planned for Saturday, 30th April and Sunday, 1st May in the church yard after Mass on Saturday evening and also Sunday morning. Again more information will be furnished nearer to the date. We look forward to your support at all the upcoming fundraising events.

Split the Pot

The first draw 'Split the Pot' was held in the Gift Shop on Sunday morning and the winner was Ken Ellard, Carne winning €180. This project is a fundraiser for the Church Restoration fund-envelopes available in Londis and Post Office-put €2 in provided envelope write your name and 'phone number on envelope.

Total takings divided: Parish receiving half, Winner receiving half. Please support. The church is used by all at different stages. We need your help.

I.C.A. guild

There was a good attendance at the I.C.A. meeting held on Monday last. The President extended sympathy to the Corish, Butler and Wickham families on their recent bereavements. Members were reminded of the Kilscoran Table Quiz in Danby on 15th February. The raffle was won by Lila and Reenie. We rounded off the evening with tea and beautiful cakes supplied by Francesca-many thanks.

The next meeting will be on 14th March and the competition will be 'The Funniest Joke'. The March meeting will be attended by a lady who will give us a demonstration on Flower Arranging.

GAA Lotto

As there was no winner of last week's jackpot, Our Lady's Island G.A.A lotto now stands at €14,100 and tickets may be purchased from local shops and from club members at a cost of €1.50. There is also a match 3 prize up for grabs each week and Jim Kavanagh (seller Post Office) shared in this prize last week. Last week's numbers were 10, 16, 18 and 19. Thanks to all for your continued support.

Active Retired Group

The next General Meeting and will be on Tuesday, 1st March at 3.00pm, at the Hotel Rosslare. T There will be a committee meeting at 2pm at the same venue.

internet/email classes

Basic internet and email classes are being run for people with little or no computer experience and are delivered in a relaxed atmosphere in Kilrane National School commencing Wednesday 24th February from 4-6pm.

Learn how to keep in touch with family abroad with email or skype. Find out how to pay your bills online, book flights or just look up things on the internet.

Lifeboat Memorial Day

The Annual Wreath Laying Ceremony at the Lifeboat Memorial in The Burrow Rosslare will be held on Sunday 21st February.

The wreath will be laid this year by Mr Raymond Wickham. The wreath will be blessed at 10am mass that morning in St Brigid's Church Rosslare. All are invited to attend both the mass and the ceremony and refreshments will be served afterwards in Redmond's The Bay.
