Thanks to Lil Fortune and Maura Rossiter for each holding a Coffee Morning recently in aid of Barntown Church. Between them, they managed to raise over €1,600 which is a staggering amount and an amazing accomplishment. More coffee mornings are to follow shortly. Congratulations to Therese and Charlie Walsh who recently celebrated the Christening of their twin boys Luke and Charlie in Barntown Church.


Hard luck to Clodagh Jackman, Roisin Cooney and Emma Kiely and the Co. Minor camogie team who were defeated by Limerick in championship on Saturday in Piercestown. Commiserations also to Emma Walsh (Polehore), Patrice O'Gorman and Aine Shannon and the Co Wexford Intermediate camogie team who were defeated by Kildare on Sunday in Coolgreaney 0-09 to 2-02.

U8 Camogie training resumes on March 05th (Sat) at Glynn Barntown pitch at 10am- any new players or any parent wanting to help out can contact PJ Gaynor on 0867318018.

U16 camogie training resumed last Sunday 6-7pm and will continue as such until we get back on the pitch. Contact Méabh on 0879300881 for information.

A big thank you to Antoinnette Stafford, Ronnie Bent & Eimear Gilhooley for Saturday's stretching & fitness demonstration. We had a great turn out of children who had lots of fun & afterwards we all had a cuppa and a little presentation to say thanks. Well done to John, Aoife and all the organisers.


One Club Registration for everyone, boys and girls from 5yrs-18yrs, is Wednesday 02nd March in clubhouse 7pm-8:30pm. It would be really much appreciated if everyone could register early again this year.


Tickets are still available for the combined Glynn Barntown GAA, Camogie and Ladies Football Clubs Reunion on Friday 4th March in the Riverbank House Hotel at 8pm which includes a three course meal and music by American Heart all for €25!

Medals will be presented to our victorious Intermediate Footballers and our Senior B Camogie Champions as well as runners up medals for both our U.21 Premier and Minor Premier teams. Its a great excuse to gather a crowd, get dressed up and have a club night out.

Fire Safety in the Home

Piercestown/Murrintown ARA Club have invited Colm McGrath, Assistant Chief Fire Officer in Wexford County Fire Service will give a talk on Tuesday 22nd March at 3.30pm in St Martin's Community Centre. Everyone is welcome to come along to this informative address.

Piercestown National School is hosting an open night Thursday 25th February at 7 p.m. There will be talks on the night by principal, teachers, children and parents association. Teas/coffees and refreshments will be served. All are welcome.

Table Quiz results

The committee of Camross Community Hall extends sincere thanks to all people that supported their Table Quiz in Rochfords Lounge, Camross on Friday 19th February. Winners were Camross Drama team of Ml. and Pauline Stafford, Cathal Byrne and Martin Murphy. Teams in joint second were, Paddy O'Reilly, Martin O'Connor, Paul Bridges, Davey Duffin and Brendan Doyle, Niamh Waters, Ann Curran and John Quigley. Thanks to Quiz Master, Liam Morrissey who did an excellent job and to Colette for use of lounge.

Dancing at Camross

The March dance will be held in Camross Ballroom on Friday 4th March with T Bone Country providing the music. This group were a big hit when last in Camross before Christmas. Admission is €8 including The Tea. Dancing from 10pm to 12 midnight.

Caroreigh Vehicle Run

The first Caroreigh Vehicle Run, in aid of Caroreigh Church Fund, will be held on Sunday 6th March. Registration will take place in Camross Hall at 12 noon and vehicles will move off on their designated route at 1pm. All vehicles must have an up to date insurance cover. All are welcome. Refreshments will be served.

Our Club Lotto takes place this Tuesday night 23rd February when the Jackpot will be €2,300. Please have your tickets in the Centre at 7.30pm.

Our first football league game of the season is on Friday night 4th March v Rosslare at 8pm.

Please support our Club development draw-tickets are €10 each or 3 for €20, members are out around the parish and surrounding areas calling. There is over €8000 in prizes and entry to our Club Lotto for a year.

Club membership is now due: €65 for players, €80 for family, €30 for student,€50 for non player, and Walking / Jogging track €20. Please pay to any committee member.

U8 hurling training continues on Saturday afternoons from5-6pm indoors in the community centre -all new players welcome, must be 6years of age; U10 hurling training continues on Wednesday from 7-8pm; U12 on Tuesday 6.30-7.30pm and U14 Wednesday 7-8pm, all on the hardcore.Membership can be paid on the night.All players must be registered for insurance purposes.

Our minor footballers are out next Sunday 28th February in Taghmon v Naomh Eanna at 11am. All support welcome.
Please note the date for the Cúl Camp for 2016 is earlier this year from 4th to 8th July.

The February meeting took place on Wednesday 17th. The demonstration took place first. Ruth Deignan from Wexford Bone Health gave a talk about the importance of preventing falls and hope to keep osteoporosis at bay. It is very important as we get older to have Bone Scans to hopefully catch osteoporosis before it gets too bad as it can be treated. Book your scan today. Call Ruth on 086 3367544.

After the demonstration the meeting took place. A vote of sympathy was passed with the family of Dick Byrne who died recently.

Dates to remember are as follows: 29th February-Federation meeting; 19th March-Craft School in Enniscorthy; 28th April-Federation Bowling competition; 6th-8th May-Wexford Weekend in An Grianan.

The next meeting takes place on Wednesday 16th March. The talk will be on Nutrition and healthy eating with Michelle from Only Natural Health Food Store in Church Lane. This meeting will be an open meeting so come along and bring your questions. The hostess for the night was Joan Bell and Kathleen Murray and Mella Winters won the raffle.

Daffodil Day

Daffodil Day takes place on Friday 11th March. We hope that you will all come out as usual and support this great cause. Please don't let recent events stop you from coming out. You have always been faithful supporters, don't stop now.

Athletics club

Great results from the Lenister juvenille Championships in Athlone. Seven of our athletes competed this weekend and they brought home 4 gold and a silver medal between them.

Both of the Hanlon brothers Joseph and James took home a gold each in there respective age groups in the walks. Dylan Colfer-Furlong was 5th in the u17 Triple jump. Sunday saw Aisling Kelly take gold in both the U14 Hurdles and Long Jump. Pádraig Hore 2nd U17 Shot Putt, and Dylan Colfer- Furlong 7th U17 high jump, Muireann Hore, was 9th in the U15 Shot Putt. Very well done to everyone. And thanks to those who sent results to keep us updated.

Camross Drama Group

Rehearsals continue for the cast of our 3 Act Play, 'It's the Real McCoy' by Tommy Marren. Directed by Michael Stafford, this comedy promises plenty of laughs so put these dates in your diary: Saturday 9th/Sunday 10th April-St Michael's Hall, Wexford town; Sunday 17th April-Camross Hall; Thursday 21st/Friday 22nd April-Horse & Hound, Ballinaboola; Saturday 30th April/Sunday 1st May-St Mary's Hall, Fethard-on-Sea. Club underage player Paddy Nolan was picked for the Leinster U13 Celtic Challenge Team. Paddy was in fine form last weekend winning 6/6 matches. The team blazed a trail and were crowned Celtic Challenge Champions 2016. Well done Paddy, the club is proud of you.

Our superstar underage player Clodagh Dunne has been selected for the Irish U17 Team competing in Poland in March. Fantastic achievement Clodagh, we are very proud of your brilliant performances. Taghmon's 6th Division A Team were in splendid form in the finals of the Mixed League. They were crowned the golden winners. Team-Patrick O'Regan, Martina Cogley, Margaret O'Regan, Dan Rossiter. Well done to this splendid team.

The entries for the Adult County Championships have been posted by Tournament Organiser, Deirdre Dunne. Entries have to be in by 23rd February. This event will be held on Good Friday in Ramsgrange.
