National titles are rare things and hard to come by, but are a result of hard work, discipline and dedication. Niall Sheil from St. Killian`s A.C. travelled to Athlone on Sunday last to compete in the national 1500M Over 35 event.

Having taken the indoor and outdoor national titles in this event last year he was the man to beat. In a very competitive field he did not relent to the pressure and put the foot down from the start and took a commanding lead, a lead he was not to lose and he took the victory with 50M to spare in super style.

This sets him up perfectly as he prepares to compete for Ireland in the European masters indoors in Italy in a couple of weeks. Well done Niall and a special mention to his coach and mentor Pavel Kolesnikov who has yet again been instrumental in Niall's success.
