A busy weekend for the club both on the local and national athletics scene. Locally the senior men and women took to the roads of Enniscorthy in the County Novice Road Race.

The women's team battled hard with Christine Stone having a great run just finishing outside the individual medals in fourth place, Martina O'Mahony, Kathleen Keane and Lisa Malone made up the team.

In the men's race all the men ran really well to secure 3rd place in a very competitive men's team event. Well done to the men, John Murphy, Eddie Kennedy, John Stone and Brendan Radford.

Then at National level on Saturday we had two juvenile athletes competing at the National Indoor Championships Conor Brennan and Shane Parle. Conor competed in the U15 High Jump it wasn't Conors day but after a silver medal at Leinster level there is more to come from this ever improving young athlete. Shane however reached new heights in his athletic career and was crowned U19 High Jump All Ireland Champion.

A great achievement by this young man, great credit to his coach Jim Corcoran, a proud day for his family especially his grandad Jim Parle a stalwart for many years of the DMP club and a great day for the club, well done Shane.

Mr Gaul gave a very interesting and enjoyable talk and visual presentation after which a short discussion followed. We were delighted to see so many men present, indeed they were truly blessed among women!

The president, Carmel Lonnergan, thanked Liam Gaul for his interesting presentation and invited the audience, including the men, to some light refreshments. Afterwards a very brief meeting took place and it was noted that all the activities were still going strong such as cycling, bowling, cards and drama.

There was a short discussion about some major upcoming events, details later. Names were taken for volunteers for the Daffodil Day collection. Next guild meeting is on 6th April. New members always welcomed.

St Paul's A.C.

Some results from the Leinster Indoor Championships. Maeve Hayes finished 9th out of a huge field of 31 in the U15 Long Jump last weekend. Sammy Delaney was extremely unlucky not to make the final of the U17 200m. Sammy ran 25.1 in the first heat, but just missed out of qualifying by 0.2 seconds. Sammy also finished 5th with a jump of 5.51m in the U17 Boys Long Jump. Well done to both athletes!
