Kilmore ARA

Members are reminded that the trip to Johnstown Castle is booked for June the eighth at 10.30 a.m. Our June meeting will decide on the following: Trip to the GAA Museum in Dublin, travel by train.

Some members have expressed a wish to see the 1916 exhibition in Collins Barracks and others have expressed a wish to see the new interactive exhibition in the GPO. A decision will be made at the monthly meeting on June 2 as to which and how many trips will take place during July.

Ten-Pin Bowling will take place as usual for ARA members in the Leisuremax on Mondays at 10.30 a.m., all welcome to attend


Kilmore School Field Day this year is heading to be another great family day on Sunday, May 29, at 2.30 p.m. We will have bottle stand, toy stand, book shop, plant stand, bric-a-brac, home produce, candy floss, sweet shop, burgers and ice cream, face painting, kids tattoos, wheel of fortune, bouncy castles, penalty shootout, air archery, hip hop demonstrations and awards, monster raffle and tea room. It's hectic on the scouting front at the moment. After stone picking at the Social Centre last week it's onto the beach cleanup on Saturday in Kilmore Quay for beavers and cubs while scouts have Fun Camp in Rosslare.

Plans are in place for a monster cake sale, Tea on the lawn and car boot sale on June 18/19 at Kilmore and cake sale in Mulrankin and Tomhaggard in aid of forthcoming trip of 40 to the international scout jamboree in Birmingham.

Tomhaggard centre

Tomhaggard Women's Shed Reading Room is now open. Available to the public on Mondays 10 p.m. to 1 p.m. Books can be borrowed swopped or donated. A register is in room to be completed for any books borrowed.

A big thank you to everyone who supported the Trolley Raffle in Roches Drinagh last week. The centre looking great as rear of building has been cleared and reseeded.

Memorial Mass

A memorial mass for Terence Roche takes place in Mulrankin church on Tuesday, May 24, at nine 45 a.m.

ICA news

Kilmore Quay ICA members are meeting for the last time before the summer on Wednesday, June 1, at 8 p.m. in the Stella Maris Centre. Weather permitting they will be having a picnic at the ICA seat overlooking the beautiful harbour of Kilmore Quay.

A commemorative afternoon tea and craft sale will be held in the Stella Maris Centre on July 3 at 3 p.m. This is being held in memory of the late ICA member Ann Winters. All proceeds of this event will be donated to St Joseph's and St Mary scheme for the deaf.


The sudden and unexpected death of Mr Ger Bates, Kilmore Quay took place suddenly in Wexford town. Ger was a very popular and well known person and sincere sympathy go out to all his family and friends on their great loss.

Murrintown Community Centre is holding a table quiz on Wednesday, June 8 at 8 p.m. Cost is €20 per table (table of 4). Come along and test your knowledge, Tables can be pre-booked by calling the centre.

This Thursday, May 26, is Open House coffee morning time again in Our Lady's Island Community Hall from 10.30 a.m. to midday. All are welcome - come along for cuppa and chat - all free.

Awards Night

This Friday, May 27, Carne FC are holding their Awards Night in the Lighthouse Bar, Carne at 9 p.m. All are welcome. to join us on the night. The club would like to thank everyone for their help and support during the season and look forward to the same for our coming season.

Free Music Workshop

University of Notre Dame USA folk choir are providing a free music workshop in Our Lady's Island Church this Saturday, May 28, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. - all singers and musicians welcome. Mass for Exam Students

This Saturday, May 28, the 7 p.m. Vigil Mass in Our Lady's Island will be offered for all the young people of the parish who are sitting Junior and Leaving Certificate examinations. We extend a warm welcome to the all students and their families to join us for this Mass.

Tacumshane coffee morning

A coffee morning with the local sewing group, takes place Sunday, June 5, after 10 a.m. mass, when the ladies will display their winter of hard work, so come along and support this community event, where you can avail of fresh tea + coffee, home baking and see the skill of the local ladies on display. All welcome.

Night Round the Fire

What a fantastic night we had on Friday last in Tacumshane Old School, a great night of singing, dancing, poems, music, stories. Our musicians on the night were our local musicians Rich Sinnott' and Tomas Corish and a big thanks to all who performed and all who sat back and enjoyed the night. Next night to be announced.

Split the Pot

Congratulations to Michael and Margaret Sills, Murrintown who won 'Split the Pot' last week receiving €232. Weekly Draw will continue in Gift shop after Sunday morning Mass. Envelopes available at O'Dohertys, Post Office, Lobster Pot, Butler's St Iver's and Meyler's Millhouse. Thanks to all concerned.

Rosary Relay for Priests

On Friday, June 3, at 8 p.m., Our Lady's Island Shrine, will once again take part in the Global Rosary Relay for Priests. Over the past number of years this gathering has attracted large numbers of laity and priets from around Ferns diocese and beyond. The parish is pleased to invite all who have attended before to return, and those who have not, to come and experience a unique half hour of prayers and connection with Marian Shrines around the world. We ask that those attending be in the church for 7.30 p.m.

Dance Class

On Wednesday evenings at 7.30 p.m. a dance class, led by a qualified dance teacher and choreographer, will take place in Our Lady's Island Community Centre. Great fun, getting fit for Summer and learning some great dance moves is guaranteed. Cost per week is €5.

Seniors' Outing

This will take place on June 22 bus leaving OLI at 8.30 a.m. stop for tea and scones at Arklow Bay Hotel, then on to see 'Lord of the Dance' in Board Gais Theatre and evening meal in Ashdown Park Hotel.
