Greyhound Race Night

Bri Beag host a family race night at Enniscorthy Greyhound Track on Monday night next August 1. The Gates open at 7 p.m. with the first race off at 8 p.m. There will be free Kids Face Painting and Balloon Making from 7.15 p.m. to 9.15 p.m. Adults €10 with U14s free. Tickets available at Bri Beag Reception, call 0539247111. Gate Prizes and Raffle on the night.

Seisiun in Bree

The Comhaltas Seisiún Sessions, in association with Celtic Roots, continue weekly on Tuesday nights at 8.30 p.m. for the months of July and August in Bree Community Centre. Each Session begins with the serving of scones and tea / coffee at 8.30 p.m. followed by a full programme of Music, Song, Dance and Storytelling. Cost is €10 for adults, €5 for children with concessions for groups. For bookings and further details contact 087-7535354.

Patron Dates

The Bree Patron is on Sunday, August 14, commencing in Clonmore Cemetery at 1.30 p.m., following onto the New Cemetery at 2 p.m. and then the Old Cemetery and concluding with Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament in the Church.

Bree AC

The National Athletic U12-19 Championships concluded last weekend with more success for Bree AC athletes. Sophie McCabe, competing in her final juvenile Championships, added two silver medals and one bronze medal to her bronze medal win in the long jump two weeks ago. Sophie's silver medal wins last weekend were in the Triple Jump and in the 200m and the bronze was in the 400m.

Aoife Cloke Rochford U18 also added a silver medal and a bronze medal to her gold medal win in the 100m Hurdles two weeks ago. Aoife's silver medal was in the 200m and the bronze medal was in the 100m. Sean Rowley U12 won his first individual National Track and Field medal when he won silver in the 60m. Sean won a bronze medal with Bree AC U12 relay two weeks ago. Well done to all involved.

Athletes now deserve a well earned rest from training except for the 33 athletes traveling to the National Community Games Finals on August 20/21.


Camogie Notes

Another busy week ahead for our teams. The Intermediate women play Bunclody at home Monday night. Tuesday night sees the Junior women, who are currently top of the table, take on the Harriers who lie in second place, also at home. And finally on Friday the under-16 girls play Kilross Gales at home. These are all championship games so please give the teams your support.

Story telling

The next Story telling session will take place in the the Big Tree Lounge in the village at 8 p.m. on Wednesdy July 27 Everyone is welcom eto come along and join in an evening of song, stories and Craic, Tea and refreshments will be served, so please come along and join us on the night.

The Parish Journal

Presently work is under way to compile the Parish Journal for 2015-2016which we hope to publish at the end of the year clubs and all othe organisations are requested to givean update on the activities and events that have taken place over the last two years Anyone who would like to submit any articles is asked to contact the Parish Office.

Repairs to Church Roof

The repairs and renavations to the church roof will continue over the next two weeks with no interuption to normal church services.

60th Anniversary

Congratulations to Msgr. Seamus Doyle on his 60th Anniversary to the priesthood. Apacked congregation attended the special mass and celebrations in his honour on Sunday, July 10. He was presented with an aerial view of Glenbrien by the Community followed by tea and refreshments in the Old School centre and there was a reception held in the Riverside Hotel later in the evening attended by 200 plus guests from the Parish.

Community Games

The local Community Games committee wish to thank most sincerely all who supported their church-gate collection taken up last weekend. The Area has a number of athletes, art and handwriting competitors heading off to Athlone in August for the national finals and we wish them the very best of luck.


Senior Hurling

Congratulations to Oulart-The Ballagh senior hurlers on their victory over St Martin's in the league final recently. Though both teams were without some key players due to Wexford commitments and injury problems the two teams served up an exciting contest that whetted the appetite for a possible championship meeting later in the autumn. The final scoreline was two goals 18 points to one goal 16 points.

Special congratulations to ace forward Nicky Kirwan who notched two goals eight points and to team captain Garrett Sinnott who led by example right through.

Should Wexford senior hurlers lose to Waterford in the All-Ireland quarter-final the senior championship will go ahead next weekend. Oulart-The Ballagh are provisionally fixed to play Faythe-Harriers in Bellefield on Sunday, July 31, at 6 p.m. Check official fixtures for exact details of day, time and venue.

Under-21 Hurling

Oulart-The Ballagh under-21 hurlers will play Fetard in the Premier under-21 Championship on Tuesday, July 26, in Oulart. Your support would be greatly appreciated.

Ministers of the Word

Readers are reminded to collect the new rota from the vestry. Joan Doyle and Johnny Masterson are the readers at Masses on weekend July 31 while Anne Sinnott and Eileen Kehoe - Flynn will be on reading duty on weekend August 7.

Eucharistic Ministers

Patsy Stafford and Eileen McGrath will distribute Holy Communion in St Patrick's Church, Oulart this coming weekend. Marcella Davis and Theresa Sinnott will do likewise on the following weekend, sixth/August 7.

Benefit Night

The 35th annual Benefit Night in aid of Rosslare Lifeboat Service will be held in Hammels Lounge, Kilmuckridge on Sunday, July 31. Tickets are a mere €3 and there will be door prizes, raffle and an auction. Please note that the Rosslare Lifeboat will visit Morriscastle that afternoon.

Boat Pull

There will be a Boat Pull from Kilmuckridge to Morriscastle and back again on Sunday, July 31, beginning at midday. A 'Bucket Collection' will be taken up all day. Rosslare Lifeboat will benefit from this fundraiser. Contact Eddie Sinnott for further details (087 6831549).


Well done to Ciara Storey, Mary and Una Leacy, Shelley and Stacey Kehoe, Shauna Sinnott, Louise Sinnott and Karen Atkinson on helping Wexford senior camogie team to victory over Clare and qualifying for the All-Ireland quarter-final against Tipperary.

Well done to Anais Curran who represented the club and the County in the under-16 long puck competition recently.

Results - Well done to the under-8s who played brilliantly in a tournament in Ballygarret recently. Hard luck to the under-10s who lost their recent match. Well done to the under-14s who defeated Rathnure on a scoreline of 3-04 to 1-03. The girls have qualified for the County semi-final.

Tesco - Oulart the Ballagh camogie club is involved in the Tesco blue chip community fund in Tesco Gorey. What this means is that every six weeks Tesco donate €1,000 between three different groups. Everyone gets a percentage of the money based on the amount of blue tokens they receive. So when shopping in Tesco Gorey, don't forget to get your blue tokens at the checkouts and pop them in the box.

Charity Auction

Oulart Senior Citizens Committee will hold a Charity Auction in Oulart Community Centre on Sunday, August 28, beginning at 2 p.m. The organisers are appealing for donations of good quality saleable items that would attract buyers. Cúl Camps

A reminder to parents and under-age players that the second Oulart - The Ballagh Cúl Camp will take place from August 15 to Friday, August 19. The camp is for boys and girls. In our forthcoming Parish Journal, we would like to record all births marriages and deaths in our community from August 20August 14 to August 2016. Our church register only discloses those baptised or married in Oylegate church and those interred in our cemetery (e.g. grooms from Oylegate most often do not marry in Oylegate.)

Therefore in order to have a more complete record, please forward details of any births, marriages/deaths in our community which will NOT appear in church records, and which you would like to have included in our Parish Journal to or send a text to 087 6617527, giving details.

Story Telling

The next story telling session will take place in the Big Tree lounge on Wednesday, July 27, at 8 p.m. Everyone is welcome. Admission is free: lots of music, songs and storytelling on the night. If you have a instrument, please bring it along and join in. Refreshments will be served in the lounge, followed by our monthly raffle.


Eucharistic Adoration takes place every Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. in the Prayer Room in the church. This is a time of silent reflection and intercessory prayer for personal and parish intentions. We are looking for new members to commit to spending one hour weekly (at a time of your choice) in prayer and reflection before the Blessed Sacrament. GAA lotto

There was no winner of the lotto jackpot held in the Slaney Inn, Oylegate on Wednesday, June 22. The next draw will be held in Mernagh's Lounge, Oylegate on Wednesday, July 6. Tickets cost just €2 each and are available from club members.

Parish Journal

Work is presently under way to compile the Oylegate-Glenbrien Journal 2015 - 2016, which we hope to publish at the end of the year. Clubs and parish organisations are requested to give us an update on their activities over the past two years.
