Ambrosetown Patron

The Ambrosetown Patron will take place on Wednesday, August 17, at 8 p.m. This year a collection of money will be held for essential maintenance to our graveyard. Wall repairs, gate repairs and protection of the church gable and window in the graveyard are all jobs that need urgent attention.

With a little bit of support we can make a start on these jobs, over time. Wexford County Council will also be asked to support our project. Any help you can give would be gratefully appreciated. Thank you.

Deepest sympathy to Eileen Walsh and family Littlegraigue on the death of her father Johnny Furlong last week. Johnny was brought to St Leonards church on Tuesday evening and he was buried in adjoining cemetery after funeral mass on Wednesday morning. May he rest in peace.

Farmers Market/Fun Day

On Saturday, August 13, we are holding a Farmers Market and Family Fun Day at Rathangan Hall starting at midday We'll have all the usual fun activities for kids to do on the day, including Bouncy Castles, Archery, Electric Zoo, Fun and Games, Face-painting, Hair-braiding and much more for the whole family to enjoy.

The Farmers Market will be held at the Hall while the Fun Day will take place on the GAA Grounds. If anyone is interested in taking a stall at the market, please contact Rathangan Hall at 051 563039 or email


Cullenstown Community Group wish to thank all who supported our cabaret in Cullen's bar on Saturday, July 30. To all who bought tickets, sponsored prizes and gave donations. With your generous help we strive to keep our beautiful beach and village clean and tidy. Once again thank you all.

Our Junior Ladies' football team lost their Quarter Final to Ballygarrety on Tuesday last. Final score Bannow-Ballymitty 1-07 Ballygarrett 3-08. Wishing the squad, David, Paul and Colm the very best of luck for the remaining matches in the League.

This Saturday evening the Junior Hurling team take on Gusserane in New Ross at 5.45 p.m. This is a must win game please all get behind the team and their mentor's Pat, Jack, John, Larry, Bertie and Ken. Best of luck lads.

Congratulations to Marie McCormack, Arnettstown and Wayne Haayes Kilmannon on their wedding last Saturday, July 31, which took place in Balllymitty Church and the reception followed in Ferrycarrig Hotel where they were joined by family and friends into the wee hours of Sunday morning. We wish the happy couple a long and happy life together.

Ballycogley Players

The Ballycogley Players were one of the main acts who took part in the variety concert in Our Lady's Island community centre on Saturday, July 30, as part of the Leo Carthy weekend and what a brilliant night of entertainment it was. Well done to the committee for organising such a great weekend and to all the performers/acts who took part in the concert. A special mention to our group member and Leos son Seán for all his hard work in making sure the night was a success.


Michael (Mick) O'Brien, Barryville Court, Rosslare Harbour passed away peacefully at Wexford General Hospital on July 12. Michael was at sea all his life and was also a valued member of the Rosslare Harbour Lifeboat. He will be greatly missed by his wife Joan, daughter Susan, son Michael, grandchildren Isobel, Ella, Luke and Judy, brothers Brendan and Dermot, sisters, Maud, Kathleen and Connie, son-in-law Aidan, brothers and sisters - in-law, relatives and friends. Michael was laid to rest in St Aidan's Cemetery after Funeral Mass in St Patrick's Church, Rosslare Harbour.

Mollie Clampett (née Furlong) late of Greenore Park, passed away on July 14. Mollie was a very gentle lady and had been in failing health for some time. She was predeceased by her son Stephen and husband Mick. Sympathy is offered to her son Michael, daughters Paula and Sandra, grandchildren, brothers Ted, Martin and Mike, relatives and friends. Mollie's Funeral Mass was celebrated in St Patrick's Church, followed by removal to St Aidan's Cemetery Kilrane. May they Rest in Peace.

St Paul's AC

Our athletes headed down to Cork for Round two of the National League recently. Emma Owens the discus with a throw of 35.46m to earn top points for the Women's county team. Kieran Murphy took the shot circle for the county men's team with a throw of of 9.32m to earn fourth place. Tara Connick was brought in to guest with the Menapians Women's team.

Tara managed to earn fifth place in the hammer after running a great second leg in the 4x1 to help the relay team into fourth place. Tara then threw 23.82m in the discus to finish in third place. Well done to our athletes. Special mention to Shane and Peter Connick (managers of the Mens team) and Eamonn Owens (manager of the Women's team) that helped both teams qualify for the final on August 7.

We had three athletes competing at the National Juvenile Track and Field Championships. Gergely Pap won two medals with a second place finish in the under-15 discus throwing 33.37m. This was followed by another second place finish in the under-15 shot, with a huge throw of 13.29m. Tara Connick won bronze in the under-19 Discus with a fine throw of 25.03m. Maeve Hayes finished sixth in the under-15 Long Jump with a jump of 4.93m. Great results from our juveniles, well done.

Also well done to Emma Owens who finished third in the discus at last week's Morton Games with a throw of 36.91m.

We are excited about holding our first farmers market every Sunday in July and August from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Rosslare Community and Sports Centre, offering you fresh/homemade local produce from local people.


Every Thursday night is Family Fun Night at 6 p.m. in Rosslare Community and Sports Centre (free entry). Come along for a hassle free evening with different hot food vans each week, a variety of kid's activities and relax in our cosy indoor and outdoor seating area.

5-a-side Soccer

Join us everyday at 3 p.m. Monday to Friday for the very popular 5-a-side Football. Just turn up on any day - no booking required.

SCRAP METAL collection

Between August 8 to August 19 there is free scrap metal collection from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Monday to Friday in the carpark behind playground. Staff will be on hand to help - Please do not leave your scrap metal outside of these times.


This is going to be a fantastic event for the whole family to enjoy, on August 14 at 10 a.m. Entry forms available from the centre. Entries available on the day from 9 a.m., €5 per child. Race starts at 10 a.m. Participants receive one colour bag included in entry fee. Additional bags can be purchased.

Lollitots news

Our Carboot Sale is on again this Sunday, August 14, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Scoil Mhuire. Cars €10 and vans €20. We are also holding a Carboot Sale on August 21.
