Chess and Draughts

Bree-Davidstown Community Games Chess and Draughts continue on Tuesday evening from 7-8.30 p.m. in Bree Hall. All children from eight years to 16 years are welcome. Cost is €1 per child.

PTAA Mass and Dinner

The Ferns Diocesan Mass will take place in St Senan's Church on Wednesday, November 23, at 7.30 p.m. The PTAA annual dinner will follow in the Riverside Park Hotel commencing at 8.30 p.m. For more information please contact Eddie Dunne at 053 9247882.

Youth Club News

Bree Youth Club's split-the-pot fundraiser is up and running. Envelopes are available in local shops and at Youth Club each Friday night. Draw will take place on the last Friday of each month. Please support this venture as all funds raised will go back into the youth club. Preparations are under way for our first variety show which will take place in December. Anyone wishing to take part should attend auditions and rehearsals in Galbally Hall each Tuesday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Extra rehearsals will be arranged in the coming weeks. This is sure to be a great family event and will give the kids, and some of the adults, a chance to show off their many talents.

Who's Got Talent

After seven years the return of 'Who's Got Talent' hosted in Bree Community Centre is finally on its way with cash prizes. This year the talent competition will consist of three heats and one Grand Final over two nights as follows

Heat 1 - November 19, Heat 2 - November 26, Heat 3 - December 10, Grand Final - January 6 and 7, 2017. Watch Wexford Academy Facebook page for full details and/or contact 087 7535354 with entries.

HOPE Christmas Cards

Packs of HOPE Christmas Cards are now available to buy from Bree CEP/Parish Office costing €5 per pack of six cards. All proceeds go to the HOPE Cancer Support Centre in Enniscorthy.

Parish Focus

The Christian Media Trust, in association with South East Radio, presents Parish Focus with Martin Colfer on Monday evenings at 8.30 p.m. On Monday, November 29, the focus of attention will be on Bree Parish.

Bree AC

Bree AC AGM will take place on Thursday, December 1, at 7 p.m. followed by the annual Awards Presentation at 8 p.m. All athletes and their parents are welcome to attend. There will be no indoor athletics training on that night.

Congratulations to Sarah Doyle, Aine Doyle and William Spratt Murphy on winning the National semi-final in Public Speaking on Saturday night last in Mountmellick. Their topic was 'Reality TV'. Sarah won best speaker on the night. Best wishes to the team in the national final which takes place in Tullamore on Saturday, December 3. Their topic for the national final is 'Children's Toys should be gender neutral'.

Best wishes also to Aine Doyle in the National Improtu Speaking in Michelstown, Co Cork this weekend.

The Joy Of the Gospel: There will be a series of six sessions that explore our personal encounter and friendship with Christ with the view to deepening our relationship with God through discussion, fellowship and prayer.

The six sessions explore: The Father's Love, the Gift of the Spirit, A Personal Pentecost, the Joy of the Gospel, Unwrapping God's gift and Living in the Spirit. The sessions take place between Easter and Pentecost and are open to all Christian denominations. They take place on six consecutive Sunday evenings up to December 18. The venue for the meetings will be the Shamrock Room, Clonard Community Centre, Clonard, Wexford. The meetings start at 7 p.m. and continue till 8.30 p.m. ALL are welcome. Clonard Bereavement Support Group would like to offer you an opportunity to: Explore the journey of grief and loss. Seek understanding and support. Cake Sale

There will be a Christmas themed cake sale in aid of the Rainbow Unit (for children on the Autism Spectrum), Scoil Mhuire, Coolcotts on Sunday, November 27, from 9.30 a.m. till 1 p.m. The sale will be held in the Main Hall in Scoil Mhuire and will include homemade Christmas Puddings, Mince Pies, Cup Cakes and much more. English classes

Faile Isteach, a voluntary organisation is looking for students to learn and practice English at the Adult Education Centre, old Vocational College, Selskar, Westgate on Tuesday nights from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. in a very informal set up. Come and meet people from different countries and learn English with the help of our own specially designed material. No need to register just come to the class and take part.



Join us in Barntown Community Centre for the second annual charity fundraiser 'Hannah's Day' in aid of Wexford Hospice Homecare.

The event will take place this Saturday, November 26, from 2 p.m. till 8 p.m. Plenty of entertainment on offer on the day including Bouncy Castle, Nail Bar, Face Painting, Balloon Modelling, Brik a Brac and a raffle for 3 a.m. azing Hampers plus many other spot prizes. Relax with a nice cup of tea or coffee and a slice of cake. All welcome for this very worthy cause.

CAMOGIE club news

Our under-10 camogie and Ladies' football teams had a fantastic evening in Leisure Max recently for their medal presentation, while the under-12 camogie and Ladies' Football teams enjoyed a lovely evening in the cluhouse on Friday. Thanks to mentors, players and parents for all their hard work during the year and to the camogie and Ladies' football committees for their support.

AGM - Glynn-Barntown camogie club held its AGM on Friday evening in the clubhouse. The newly elected committee is as follows: Chairperson-Róisín Doyle. Vice Chairperson-Conor Kavanagh. Secretary-Angela Finn. Treasurer-Deirdre Wilde. Registrars-Danny O'Brien and Angela Finn. PRO - Méabh Cooney. Children's Officer - Janine O'Gorman. Development Officer - Sinéad Dempsey.

Committee members - Grainne Barron, Aideen Buckley, Sarah Butler, Denise Fitzharris, Julie Kearney, Jenny Kehoe, Annette Moroney, John Murphy, Danny O'Brien and Georgina Roche.

A presentation was made to new Club President Ann Moroney and outgoing President Mary Roche was thanked for her support and help during her three year term.

Presentations were also made to outgoing Chairman John Cooney and outgoing Treasurer Ger Sweeney for their contributions to the club over the past number of years.

Club secretary/Registrar/team selector/first aid woman Angela Finn was named as a very worthy 'Club person of the Year 'and also received a presentation in light of this tribute.

The meeting acknowledged the huge number of talented players who lined out for club and county over 2016 and thanked them and their parents and the many dedicated mentors who showed fantastic commitment and enthusiasm over the 2016 playing season.

The club also thanked it's sponsors Declan and Mary Roche of the Sycamore House for their ongoing support and looks forward to 2017.


Glynn-Barntown Coiste na nÓg AGM will be held in the clubhouse on Sunday, December 4, at 7 p.m. Anyone that would like to be involved in training boys' teams from under-18 down next year year please contact Willie Carley 087 2933815 by Friday, November 18.

The Glynn-Barntown Ladies' Football Club AGM takes place in the clubhouse on Tuesday, November 22, at 8 p.m.


Annual Club lotto tickets are on sale now (can be paid in installments if desired). €10,000 will be won on December 2 with a further €10,000 to be played for in future draws.

November is the month when we especially remember our deceased family and friends. A mass of remembrances for the recent dead and all buried in Barntown Cemetery takes place on Sunday, November 27, at 11 a.m. This will be followed by a cuppa at the church and the blessing of graves.


The use of the hall in Glynn is for all parishioners, however, for insurance purposes the hall must be booked in advance of use. Please contact Martina at 086 1661283 to arrange bookings.


Pongo continues on the first Tuesday of every month. See you all again on Tuesday, December 6, at 8 p.m. in the kitchen of the hall.


Save the date: This year's Christmas Bazaar will be held on Sunday, December 11, after 10 o'clock mass. Please start putting any bric-a-brac you have may have aside. This is a annual fundraiser for the upkeep of the hall and your support on the day will be much appreciated.
