We were sad to learn the recent death of one of our older parishioners when Mrs Theresa Delaney, Brocurra passed away in her ninety-second year. Our sympathy to her family, Mary, Rosie, Mella, Kathleen, Mick, Pat and JP, her grandchildren, great grandchildren, her sisters Bridget, Betty and brother John, her many relatives, neighbours and friends in the area. Her funeral Mass was celebrated in St Abban's Church on Wednesday last with burial in the adjoining cemetery. May her gentle soul rest in peace.
The weekly '30' card game continues in the Community Centre this Friday, December 16, at 9 p.m. Thanks to the ladies for the teas last week. Proceeds going to Parish Funds. Ctaering on Friday, December 16, will be Bridget O'Gorman, Ann Stafford, Kay Whelan and Agnes Whelan; on Friday, December 23, will be Rita Furlong, Catherine English, Bernie Power and Ann English.
Card winners on Friday, December 2, were Breda and Ml Bolger, Séamus Wickham, Paddy Furlong, John Hanley, Phil Jackman, James Hendrick, Mick Bolger, Nick Doyle, and Andy Reville. Christmas Ham winners were Seán Cullen and John Nolan.
Children from Adamstown NS will perform a Carol Service in St Abban's Church on Tuesday, December 20, at 7 p.m. and all welcome to attend.
Coláiste Abbain Fair
The students of Coláiste Abbáin proudly present their first Christmas Craft Fair on Thursday, December 15. The festivities are taking place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the PE Hall of the school. All items have been expertly handcrafted by our students and will make great Christmas gifts/stocking fillers for your loved ones.
Some of the items for sale on the day include: Christmas wreaths, centrepieces, bookmarks, Christmas treats, Jewellery, personalised mugs, Christmas cards and many many more. Come along and witness the entrepreneurial spirit that is vibrant in our school. Entry is free on the day and refreshments will be served.
Our condolences to Paddy and Peggy Gethings and family the village Adamstown on the death of Paddy's brother in law Tony Long who died in England recently. May he rest in peace.
Correction to last week's newsletter - the total amount raised for the sponsored walk was €1,570, thanks to everyone for their support. The ICA monthly meeting will take place on Wednesday, December 14, in the Community Centre at 8 p.m., Chris Kindle gifts on the night. Mary J Furlong will give a demonstration on festive table arrangements. All members please attend. New members welcome, refreshments will be served on the night.
We are continuing our hugely successful Operation Transformation again in 2017 - We will be starting on Thursday, January 12, to February 16 inclusive in Adamstown Community Centre at 8 p.m. Please the Adamstown Ladies Football =Facebook page for more details.
Bree Youth Club News
The Christmas Variety Show will take place on Friday, December 16, in Bree Community Centre. Tickets are available at the door. Adults €7, Children under-10 €2, Children O10 €4. All support will be greatly appreciated.
Peggy O'Leary was the first winner in our split-the-pot draw, winning €145. Keep a lookout for our envelopes in the local shops around Bree and support your local youth club. Next draw will take place on the first Saturday in January in Byrnes of Bree.
Registration for Bree AC for 2017 will take place at training on this Thursday, 15th from 7.15 p.m. to 9.30 p.m. during indoor training times. Indoor training finishes on Thursday, December 15, for the Christmas season and resumes again on January 12.
There was another night of super results for Bree AC athletes in the Cross Country Winter League in Enniscorthy on last Friday night. Girls U8 Leah Bolger 1st, Erin Ryan 10th; U9 Ciara Laffan 1st, Chloe Casey 2nd, Maura Doyle 5th; U10 Katie Doyle 1st; U11 Abbie Doyle 1st, Boys U7 Billy Doyle 1st; U8 Jayden Kenny 1st, Shane Laffan 5th, Jack Doyle 10th; U9 Cian Donovan 1st, Conn Fraser 5th, Oisin Harte 15th; U13 Conor Doyle 1st.

'Who's Got Talent'
Heat two of 'Who's Got Talent' takes place on Saturday night, January 6. Heat three is on January 7 and the Grand Final is on Saturday, January 21. Bree Active Retirement
The Christmas party Day on next Wednesday, December 21 - members and non-members welcome. The next meeting of the group will be the club AGM on January 18. We would love to have full attendance for that meeting.

Our last meeting took place on Monday, December 5. Minutes, Correspondence, and Finance were dealt with by Margaret Nolan, Margaret O'Gorman (Poulpeasty), Dympna Kelly and Breda Banville.
Dympna congratulated Mary Kelly who won both the hot cross bun and the cherry cake competitions at the recent Federation meeting. She also congratulated Breda Whelan on her cherry cake entry and Majella Colfer for her beautiful Roman blind creation from the sample book. She also congratulated the ladies who looked after the garden which won an award. Dympna also complimented the ladies who helped making the recent Senior Citizen Party in Taghmon a real success.
After the ladies enjoyed a most entertaining game of bingo, Peggy Doyle and Mary-Margaret Roche served some delicious tea and scones. Véro Rooney was the lucky winner of the competition of the 'cutest Christmas decoration' with her much loved 'Reindeer Christmas sock'.
A few dates for your diary: The DIY classes will start after the Christmas period more details later. January 8, the hospital visit will take place in New Ross, and April 22, will be the craft day. The next meeting will be on January 9 in the Camross Hall at 8 p.m. and the competition will be the 'nicest Christmas card'.
