The under-12 girls played the first round of the cup away to Fastnet Rovers. The foggy conditions did not deter our girls and they played out a very entertaining game winning the match with a 5-0 score line. Our defence of Eve Rowe, Tara Cullen, Aoife Codd and Aoife Devereaux in goal were brilliant on the day and despite Rovers efforts they couldn't get the better of our girls. Our midfield and strikers of Ciara Murphy, Aoife White, Kiera Casey, Aoibheann Rankin, Sophie Wallace and Cora Sinnott worked hard throughout the game and played some superb passes. Two goals came in the first half from Cora and Aoibheann, in the second half Aoibheann added her second followed by Kiera and Ciara. Well done, girls.
We wish to congratulate our club players Kyle, Evan, Dan and Tadhg and team on their 1: 0 win away against SDFL in Dublin good three points to start the 2016/17 Inter league.
Mayglass School Sports
Well done to the girls from third and fourth class on their success in the FAI's Futsal five a side soccer tournament. The girls travelled to St Joseph's sports complex during the recent past and faced no less than eight teams in the competition.
Having drawn their game four all with Castlebridge in the group stages, the girls faced them yet again in the final having had a convincing 3-0 victory over Murrintown in the final. This time however the girls had done their homework (for once.)and were determined not to give away any easy scores.
Tara Cullen turned in a superb performance in defence alongside Clara Kelly, while Ciara Murphy and Aoibheann Rankin turned up the heat up front and down the middle to put two past the Castlebridge keeper who performed very well on the day. Jenna Ryan kept a clean sheet in goal while Katie Foley, Eva Smith and Holly-May O'Sullivan made valuable contributions throughout the day from the bench scoring in the group stages.
A huge thanks to the All Blacks coaches who helped out on the day. With much more talent in this age group we look forward to the SPAR five-a-side competition in February/March. Reminder also that the Rackard League medal presentation takes part in the school on Wednesday, December 21.
Our annual Investiture takes place on Wednesday, December 14, at 7 p.m. It is one of the key dates in the scouting year. We would like to see all scout members and their families present to join in the celebrations. Meetings will resume in January
