Attention All Adult Players. It has been a mandatory requirement for all players up to and including minors to wear mouthguards, from January 1, 2017, the Mouth Guard rule will also apply to adult players. Players not wearing a Mouth Guard can be removed from the field of play by the referee and can only return to the field of play when the situation is rectified. Players who suffer dental or mouth injuries during a training session or game will not be covered by the LGFA injury fund if they are not wearing a Mouth Guard. Present at the latest ICA meeting of December 5 were president Mary Quirke and fifteen fellow members. Margot Finn received a huge 'thank you' for organising the guilds christmas party which was held in Kellys Hotel Rosslare. The hostesses for the meeting were Lish McDonnell and Margot Finn and the hostesses for the meeting on January 9 are Kathleen Nolan and Breda Wright.
Mary Codd attended the meeting and she showed the guild members how to make a centre piece. The final total for the palliative care fundraiser was €400. On the night each member wrapped a present for the women's refuge group. The competition for the next meeting is for the nicest christmas card. Happy Christmas to all our friends.
The Walsh family of Killinick have once again lit up the night skies around Killinick with its fabulous display of Christmas lights. Michael and Kathleen together with their daughter Helen have used their festive display as a fundraiser for Temple Street Hospital in memory of their daughter Chloe who sadly died in 2006. We invite you to come along to see the display which gets bigger each year and to support thisvery worthy cause.
In a year when all went right for Mayglass man Jamie Codd, having ridden winners at the racing festivals of Cheltenham, Aintree and Galway and claimed his second point-to-point jockeys title Jamie received the annual HRI point-to-point award at the 2016 Horse Racing Ireland award ceremony held at Leopardstown racecourse during the recent past. Hard work and dedication to the sport is really paying off for this young man. Congratulations, Jamie.
The Ballycogley Players would like to congratulate Wexford Drama Group on their 50th Anniversary which they celebrated recently. Our group had our Christmas get together last Thursday night in Greenacres, Tenacre. Thanks to Noeleen, Noel and staff for looking after us so well. A great night was had by all. The group wishes its member Jim Kielthy a speedy recovery following his operation. Lastly, we wish all our families, friends and supporters a very Happy, Healthy and Peaceful Christmas with every goodwish for 2017.
It was a night of celebrations at the annual Investiture in Tomhaggard on Wed night. Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Ventures made their promises before family and friends. Anna Power and Peter Lyons received five year Service Awards while Mary Doyle received her 20-year Service Awards, and the group received its SQS Quality Scouting Award.
Two scouts who organised Wamboree Camp in the summer in aid of Syrian Refugee Crisis Josh Quigley Power and Haley Power were presented with Chief Scout Certificates of Merit for their work by Co Commissioner Dano O'Leary. Mayor Frank Staples accepted a cheque on behalf of Trócaire for e2170. It was a real team effort by group who have 70 youth members and 14 adults who hail from parishes of Kilmore, Mayglass, Rathangan, Cleariestown and Rosslare. The ladies had a fantastic Christmas party at the Social Centre on Monday last. Wonderful food was supplied by Devilicious Cakes (Jimmy Devereux), while the singing and party pieces went on long into the afternoon. Meetings resume on January 9.
Thank you to everyone who attended and helped at the Reception on Sunday, December 11. Hopefully we can make it an annual event.
This is the time of year we would all like to remember our loved ones who have passed on. If you would like your loved one remembered on the Village Christmas Tree in Rosslare car park you can do so by donating €3 and we will place a Remembrance Ornament there for you. Fr James will also say a prayer for them at Christmas Mass. There is a donation box and book placed in all the shops and in Rosslare Community and Sports Centre.

The annual Rosslare Horse Shoe Throwing Championships take place on St Stephen's Day. Meet in Redmond's the Bay at midday This great fun for all involved, new competitors are always welcome.
