Clonard

Thrift Fund

Clonard Thrift Fund starts back on Friday, January 6 from 7 p.m. to 8.15 p.m. in the Community Centre. New Members welcome. If you have already left in your list, your books will be available for collection on Wednesday, January 4, between 2.30 p.m. to 4.30 p.m. in the bottom office.

Clonard ladies would like to congratulate all our teams and players on another successful year. Crossabeg

Storytelling

Why not spend some quality time with friends and family at the first storytelling session of the new year in Kyle Forge which takes place on Sunday, January 1. Proceedings get under way at 8 p.m. and refreshments are also served. Admission is free and a raffle will also take place with some great prizes on offer.

Annual general meeting

Crossabeg-Ballymurn GAA Club will hold their annual general meeting on Friday, January 6, at 8.30 p.m in Ballymurn hall.

Camogie Club news

The Oylegate-Glenbrien camogie club would like to wish all their players and supporters a merry Christmas and a very happy new year. They look forward to seeing you all in the field again in 2017.

A Benefit night in aid of Colin Kehoe (former county hurler) will be held in the Porter House, Castlebridge, on Friday, December 30, at 8 p.m There will be music and finger food will also be served. There will be some surprises on the night too. Tickets cost €10 and door prizes, including a stove valued at €650. For tickets or more information please contact 087 6295641.

Ferrycarrig five mile

The annual Ferrycarrig five road race will take place on Sunday, January 8. Organised by the local St Killian's Athletic club with proceeds going to the new Crossabeg community field and centre, this very popular event is now in its fifth year and growing in stature and numbers every year. The event gets under way from the local Wexford Youths FC grounds in Newcastle, heads out the main gate, turns left and heads off down to Newcastle cross, and comes out at Kitestown cross, up to Kyle Cross and finishes up at the Wexford Youths grounds. As usual the committee are working hard towards the target of a friendly community event with a serious athletic competition included. Details of the race course, entry form and other details can all be checked out on Facebook.

Operation Transformation

Crossabeg-Ballymurn Ladies Gaelic Football club once again will present 'Operation Transformation and Between the Bells' in 2017. This is a community fitness activity for all members of the family who can get fit together.

The club organised the event this year as a fundraiser to get the community up and active. It proved to be an outstanding success and once again the committee will be running it on the same format in January, 2017.

The fit-fun will begin at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, January 3, and finishes on Tuesday, February 21. The final 'get together' will take place on Tuesday, February 28. Further information can be found on the Crossabeg-Ballymurn Ladies Gaelic Football Facebook page.

Athletics

Juvenile training for St Killian's AC members for the winter months now takes place in the hall in Crossabeg school and takes place every Monday and Thursday evening from seven to 8.15 p.m. Children aged seven years upwards are most welcome. Training has now taken a break for the Christmas holidays. Then its all systems go again on Monday, January 9.

Teenage Disco

Kilmore camogie club will hold a disco for first, second and third years in Kilmore Parish Hall on Thursday, December 29, from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. Disco will be supervised. Tickets are €5 each and can be purchased from Paul Roche via Bridies Barry or Marion Cousins. Limit number of tickets left so get them early and don't be disappointed.

Christmas Dip

Join Wexford Sub Aqua Club for their annual Christmas Dip at the Little Beach on Wednesday, December 28, at 10 a.m. Sponsorship cards are available - all money raised goes to the RNLI and WSAC. Contact divewexford@gmail.com for more info.

Curracloe school news

The parents' association of St Margaret's national school, Curracloe, have produced a lovely school calendar for 2017. It is on sale in the school and in local businesses at a cost of €5. The next split-the-pot draw will take place in the school on Monday, January 9, 2017. Thanks to everyone for their generous support.

Christmas party

The Shelmalier GAA Club wish to thank all who supported their recent very enjoyable Christmas party which was held in Hotel Curracloe. Thanks to all who have continued to support the club lotto draw during the year. Your continued support is much appreciated.

Last week's lotto numbers were 2, 17, 23 and 28. There was no jackpot winner and four match-three winners, Peg Nolan, Grace Redmond, The Doyle family, Waldemar Donal. Next week's jackpot is worth €4,800.
